Re:Rings and bearings...

I never tank any of my blocks, Mainly because they really dont come out that clean. That "aluminum safe" cleaner most machine shops uses is pretty weak. What I do to clean all my blocks is, strip it all the way down, go buy some Castrol super clean and just spray that ---- all over the block, all the passages every crevise etc etc, let it sit for a bit and I use the steam cleaner at work to blow it all off. I swear to god you can practically eat off these things when I'm done with it.

I've got some TopLine rings for the d-series for sale. Stock bore/brand new. Came with my rebuild kit and used total rings instead. Make offer.

so do you guys think its possible to swap rods while the motor is still in the car. like take the pan off, head off and just undo the rods bolts and slide em out throught the top, then just put the new rods in with the pistons and put it all back together?

We've done that many many many times on my buddy's SHO. He has 3 donor motors and we're running out of pistons we've melted soo many

Yup incar rebuilds are really easy on hondas. Just dont wait until its to late, because if a rod breaks in single cam its complete destruction. I had a rod go through the main girdle, through the pan, and all the way into my downpipe, the other chunks went through the front of the block. ;)

im not gonna wait till a rod breaks. im either gonna get a set of rods that doesnt require notching so i can jsut drop the pan, remove head and wam bam im done. or im gonna buy a set of ls rods and give machine shop my extra block and crank and machine them so they fit. i just dont want to have to take the motor completely out again. cool that makes me happy :P
