couldn't you use the COP setup that is used on D17 or R18 equiped Civic.

No, this will be plug and play+ tuning. Keep the stock dizzy and remove the plug wires. COP will plug into the harness or with minor modification to the harness.

JD already stated the new honda COP setups suck the cock.

this can eaisally be adapted to the harness or so i think. what is it one or two wires? an rpm signal and thats it?

remove the dizzy and put the crank angle sensor in its place. built up a megasquirt as a dedicated spark controller, put in a 2nd vr conditionaer circuit if you want or just use the stock one it has(v3), and set up the outputs and your good to go.

or adopt a ford edis setup to work on the honda.

No, I'm using my right-time right-place savvy to attempt to hitch a ride on another man's product.

MSD makes better coils than the LSx units. As stated previously, MSD makes quite a lot of high quality coild manufactured to different specs. Since nobody here except me has the least idea - practical and theoretical - about LR circuit charge times, coil charge time/dwell, firing duration, rest times, and how to properly match a coil to a setup... uhm, be quiet kain. You just made a post full of nothing.

BTW, ---- Megasquirt. MS-II at the height of it's development will never be where OBD1 Honda was a year ago. Downgrading EMS for a horrible user interface, completely inadequate logging, poor control of several important features *primarily coil dwell* (funny you should mention MS in an ignition upgrade thread the best ignition upgrade for a MS car is to run something else), etc, is great advice to take from a guy who has never busted the 250 whp mark and really doesn't know what it takes. Outside of forum advice, which is usually wrong anyway.

You aren't making 5-600 whp. This setup isn't targeted at you.

If you can smoke one of these coils you have achieved something. :6

sorry I was genearlizing again, I wasn't talking about hondas crank/cam sensors, I wasn't sure if you were retrofitting other brands of sensors onto the honda like t-1 does.
