Most mechanic's who arent the 21 year old kid are actually pretty skilled but the 55 dollar an hour rate is a major turn off

Ya Im actually goin be nice

Organize everything and make sure you ahve plenty of 10,12,14,17mm sockets, wrenches etc

When i first started doin swaps back in the 90's in my teen years I was very unoragnized and did the good ole throw everything around the garage Ill figure it out later. Well later meant 2 holes in the wall from craftsman sockets and a set of kicked in fenders on my civic

Dont do the Ill get it done in a day. If your strugglinw ith somethin take a break eat a candy bar and go at it with a clear head

Now back to bein a jackass

lol thanks again, i've been trying to be semi orginized, since i spent close to $400 on tools i've kept them in order still in there box, i've put bolts and nuts and other things in seperate boxs with what they go with so i wont get too frustrated

i'd like it done in a day, but im not gonna be unrealistic about it and get all pissed off of it isnt, a day longer to do the job right is priceless compared to ------- something up

its not the 55 dollar and hour that turns off everyone. its the 55$ a hour and they screw up that pisses them off.

so then why would you let some people on hmt that you dont know help you build a motor?

i just rebuilt my first singlecam, its not hard. take your time, dont force anything. if something seems like its wrong, STOP and check it. then when it looks good, check it again! i must have checked my bearings with plastigauge 8+ times. have a good quality torque wrench on hand, plus a repair manual with torque specs would be nice. keep everything uberclean! use lots of assembly lube.

get a piston ring compressor from autozone for 10 bucks, they work fine.

good luck man

3/4 of the people close enough to me to come i've met before and they seem pretty cool, like i said i'd be doing at least 95% of the work on my car

i spent about $100 on a tourqe wrench so it sure as ---- better be good :X

i've heard certin types of compressors are known for breaking the rings so i want a certin type, i'll be asking if they have it when i go pick up my gaskets in town

only repair manual i have is on my comp but its two complete ones with specs on everything so i should be good

chris is being nice for once, not chewing on your ass, and telling it like it is.

Haha, chris took a ---- on my chest when I made the post about my install...and yes I was missing a fuckton of parts that in NO WAY did I think I was going to need....there is no logic to the ---- you are going to need on an install/build day. Seriously though, chris made me want to cry. Amazingly the NE guys came through and took care of ---- for me, and I'm still spanking the bitch daily till coolant jets out of the tank.

Good luck with your install, really you just need someone with their engine running, ready to run to w/e store for you. :8
