You have to make an account before you can view his, it's a waste of time. Just make a http://www.strike9.com account and upload your pictures there.

How much to powdercoat ----? Does it go by the pound?

y49crxsi 04-10-2003 10:12 PM

Re:powercoated my block head and tranny

that is pretty cool. What would be even cooler would be chrome dipping the block and head. Talk about bling bling. lol. That will look really nice as long as you clean it really good once a week.

whiteb16crx 04-10-2003 10:20 PM

Re:powercoated my block head and tranny

they charge me by the pieces he is a good friend of mine i will post up prices. chrome dipping will be crazy at least powercoating is real easy to clean. he has a lot of color

Re:powercoated my block head and tranny

A large sized valve cover, one color, blue for example. How much would that cost?

Dunno...You can just use high temp dupli color to paint ur valve cover...

Re:powercoated my block head and tranny

----, i'm sorry. What I enquired about was very confusing. I meant how much to have one powdercoated, not to purchase one.

Re:powercoated my block head and tranny

uhm how did you fit your engine into an oven. cause powdercoating requires heat..

and also i am a little worried about how u powdercoated INSIDE the intake and exhaust ports :-X

also powdercoat does a poor job of conducting heat, because it is polyester based.

i think u made a poor choice. imo.

crippledgiraffe 04-11-2003 12:12 AM

Re:powercoated my block head and tranny

I think they used the ovens left over from the Holocaust.

crippledgiraffe 04-11-2003 12:19 AM

Re:powercoated my block head and tranny

I don't know if he did this or not, but you can mask ---- off when powdercoating with this transparent green tape stuff that doesn't get fucked in the oven.

It's ok, the Jews discovered immortality potion and won't share it with anyone. They also invented tornadoes.

always remember, Crippled Giraffe is a jew. he mkes that clear. i can almost smell his cheapness from here. and as u can all see this guy treads about as lightly as a pissed off elephant. but its all good, i find it funny as long as he doesnt call me something nasty (at this pint hes beginning to type a nasty response to me) then im cool with him. but btw, jews smell bad (that should get him pissed)

Powdercoated block? I'm not sure I have a comment. I just wanted to ask crippled giraffe a question about jews, if he is one.
Q: Why do jewish people have that slanted thing on thier front door jam of thier house? What does it mean/stand for, and is it really called a "slanted kike bar?" (That's what my friend said) ;)

Kinda following your tracks lol, this was done with hi-temp paint and baking out of the car on the ground (straight home made style). My new Y8 block :)

crippledgiraffe 04-12-2003 11:34 AM

Re:powercoated my block head and tranny

The hi-temp paint flakes off tho.

Re:powercoated my block head and tranny

OK, uhm.. in addition to the other "I wouldn't do that" comments.. let me add one simple thing:

I hope you didn't seize and bolts, or fill holes, or cover sensors, or anything.. oh yes, and your engine will feel the heat. Good luck, keep us posted.

crippledgiraffe 04-12-2003 01:00 PM

Re:powercoated my block head and tranny

From what I can see, it looks as if he masked off everything important. He should be good, but the paint will flake off in a few days.

Re:powercoated my block head and tranny

So, is this for a show car that will not see operating teperature or something? It looks cool and everyhting, but as everybody else has said, it is going to be very poor at disipating heat. As for the painted block, you are so fucked man. That paint is going to peel off there and stick to whatever it hits when it falls off. That is going to be one nasty engine compartment when its all said and done. I know this from personal experience and I'm not trying to insult you or put down your work. If I were you I would get that paint off before you install it.

Same here, my L28 block was baby-blue... was.

Now it looks like it has 3rd degree burns and peeling skin.

Powdercoated.

Chacko 04-12-2003 03:21 PM

Re:powercoated my block head and tranny

Did you bake your paints? I didn't have problems with my turbo headers before, the paint smelled nasty as ---- when it got to operating temperatures... and eventually started to disolve.

I just figured while I was bored to do the whole damn thing
