The AEM has so many damn ouputs, I did see some knock sensor ouput's, I wasnt really paying attention to them. I would really like to tune a Boosted app with this setup :)

So, to have a "nice" car you have to have a turbo in a rusty white CRX? grow up

Uh oh, baby didn't get his juice box? I like the car, especially the attention to detail on the cage.

Im just wondering, how much did it cost to build that car. Thats one sweet ride, fill us in on the making of that beast.

Sweet ! Very nice. I watched the old video of him racing that turbo s2000 on the track.. I think he ran a 13.7 or something, correct? B16 all motor.

There aint nothin' wrong with that car :)

Whoah, turbo S2000 only ran a 13.7? Considering the car puts out nearly 400hp, I thought it would at least run mid 12's!

Re:Pics of JHill's Road Race CRX (TUNED!)

Yeah, it ran 13.7 at Pacific Raceways in the video. That was about the time we started into the road race thing, when the S2000 guy got me to go to an event with him. So we started the conversion of the car into a road racer.

It is prepped for Honda Challenge H1 (Hybrid class), and ICSCC SPU (super production/under 2 liter/Turbos allowed too)/ITE (Improved Touring). All of these classes allow some sort of engine swap.

Preparation costs? It was pricey, but I can list out what I remember.

$1000 Wheels (2 sets)
$2100 Tires (consumable, will use several sets a year)
$480 Tokico Illumina shocks
$350 Ground Control coilovers w/race springs 500f/700r
$130 Energy Suspension Bushings
$230 Suspension Techniques swaybars
$170 Adjustable Ball Joints

$450 Momo FIA race seat
$190 Sparco SFI 5 point Harness
$180 Sparco 383 steering wheel
$57 Momo Hub
$140 Quick release adapter
$50 Window Net/hardware
$30 Fuel sample port
$30 10bc Fire extinguisher
$70 Exhaust system
$50 Master Switch
$270 Transponder
$800 Roll Cage
$100 Professional Welding services
$6 1 Qt Can of Grey Rustoleum to paint cage with a brush.
Free Paint job by Sponsor Dougs Auto!! Thanks Doug.

$6883 total

I have about 200 hours of work into this project as well (that is a very conservative estimate, my wife would triple that figure!)

I think that is it. It doesn't have the price of the car or engine or ECU in there. Anyone could do all of this to a stock CRX Si and run very competitively in ITA. I started with the wrong car really. Hybrid road racing is still pretty small unless you live somewhere that Honda Challenge runs (East Coast or California, and starting up in the Midwest somewhere too).

Really though, I can't think of a funner way to get rid of money.

3 days to the first race...

Jim
