Would 4" of extra barrel length have anything to do with the accuracy? My Mauser carbine has a sight that goes up to 2000m... makes me laugh when I have it popped up and aim at something with the max setting, the angle of the gun is nuts.

accuracy doesn't mean ----, tolerance and roundness makes more accuracy than length. if you have a 30ft length of .25" pipe and you're shooting .22 rounds out of it

Then it sounds to me like the barrels are junk. If the actions have loosebutt tolerances as long as the round is chambered fully why would it affect accuracy?

actions effect jamming and rpm of shot

out of round (egg-shaped bores) will get you blow-by, gotta watch for rounded down riflling groves. the #1 issue with surplus rifles sold in usa is the fact that they were decomissioned for jamming or couldn't hit ---- at 100ft and they send em to usa in a big bin, tear em down and make the sporterized rifles the shot-out ones by cutting the barrel down, or they drill the outside 1" or so of the barrel to make it look 'clean'

Right, so the statement "accuracy goes to ---- with clearances that loose" has nothing at all to do with how much sand you can jam into a loosebutt action (ak vs ar talk). Would a properly clearanced barrel on an ak not be as accurate as an ar?

accuracy at distance, that's correct. the round is short, and heavy. look at ballistics on 7.62 rounds, the coveted '7n1' round that is used in the SVD is dead-nuts accurate at 200yds, but at 500yds drops around 4ft below the target. then look at ar ballistics and such. more accurate, but it's a lighter round with higher velocity

now which accuracy are you meaning, ------ or drop? long range the ar will be more accurate than an ak. if you want an accurate ak step up to the svd (assault rifle like the ar) vs the smg style that would be closer to a mp5 or ump45.

Im seeing a lot of bullshit in this thread. AKs are unaccurate because of the design, and the round itself is not a very accurate round. But it does what it is designed to do, kill people.


And 4 extra inches of barrel legnth do almost nothing to accuracy. A 14inch barrel gun wont shoot much worse than a 18 inch barrel gun. When you want accuracy you hand load.
