Also add a washer+lock washer and that'd be a mint idea. When do they start production, I want one! :)

Excellent idea Stan.

We'll probably build a backing plate as well, and then just send whichever fitting the customer wants, I think it will be a litle cheaper that way, as the backing flange can be waterjet cut.

It might be wiser to use the nuts outside the oilpan, since you couldnt use nylon lock nuts, as over time oil might swell the nylon. And outside you could use threadlock compound.

I agree about not using the Nylocs. We are looking at the available aircraft hardware from a local supplier, as I'd really like to be able to safety wire the whole thing. I'd hate for something to come loose and be able to fall back into the pan. It would be nice that any hardware that might loosen be retained by safety wire.

on the backing off. Yea I put some seals all on there :) that way when it was tight it was froze in place. I like the 2 bolt flange idea maybe with nylon lock nuts? also think about a little cover so there is no windage pushing the oil and holding it in the drain.
