New Comp. Wheel.... Balance???

Search function isn't loading for me so sorry, but I couldn't search first. Anyway, I did the Stevemode .60 T-Bird Comp. swap and I was thinking about buying the correct comp. wheel for it and put it on when I throw on the WG and mani. Someone on here directed me to a website that sells seperate turbo parts and that was there, but I never got around to getting it or change it. My main concern (besides finding the website with you guys' help) is will I need to re-balance the turbo? I'm saying no because the rest is still intact and the turbine is still on. All that is coming off is the comp. housing and wheel then putting the new one on and housing back on.

Cliff Notes: 1) Need website to find T-Bird Comp. wheel to complete Stevemode .60 comp. swap
2) Do I need to re-balance the turbo putting the new comp. wheel on?

Thanks!!! ;) ;D

Dang. I thought so, but didn't know for sure. I figured the rest of the shaft was altogether and in place that it wouldn't shift or move and would be fine. Well, if it needs re-balanced, I doubt it's even worth it because I doubt the local shops could do it.

Most wheels are balanced when they come new. If you buy a brand new wheel, check the backside to see if any material has been removed. If some has, then the wheel is balanced already. Just slap it together and run.

blaast told me wheels are balanced individually, and then the whole unit is balanced. I've swapped wheels before without ---- blowing apart, but then again, none of our setups usually stay as they are for more than a few months.

Out of all the posts so far, this one is the most correct in my opinion. I do know that each wheel is balanced, and then the assembled unit is balanced. Don't skimp, you have a lot of time and energy into your setup. Ingesting turbo parts is not the result you are hoping to achieve.

dont forget, 60 trim t3s are cheap and easy to find. If this was a repair on a GT35 then id say have it professionally done, it depends on how much you care about the turbo

The wheel will be rotationally balanced, but the two wheels need to be aligned perfectly, to prevent an imbalance along the shaft. So yes, it should be balanced.

Thanks for all the input guys. So far I'm kind of leaning towards the feeling of Craig in that "it could hold, it may, it may not, but do you want to risk it". I guess there is no way to tell? Wouldn't you figure if you put it on and ran it an it ran FINE then it would continue to be fine, like it wouldn't all of a sudden fall out of balance. It only makes sense that it would do anything right off the bat.

I think I should have turned this into a poll. :-\ This is my daily driver which makes it a decision, but more over it is main transportation to school so I'm kind of at a stand still.

Here is another question: Is it even WORTH it to get the right size wheel and slap on there? What's your opinion? JDMFantsy2K what wheel swap did you do? Is it worth it?

Thanks again for all your input I really appericate it, fellas. :D
