Need Opinions... I cant decide!!!
Hi guys this might sound stupid to you but I'm trying to decide what to do now.
I was originally planning on turbocharging my 96 sunfire gt and doing my own customer setup. Although somone on the jbody.org just made a setup so that you can run an m62 supercharger on our cars and he only wants 350 for pretty much everything except the supercharger and fuel related motifications.
The only downside to this kit is that I would have to cut a hole in my hood because the charger would set 6 inches or so above the hood. It might look sweet though having it going through the hood...
Any suggestions? I could have the charger setup for under 800 probalby and it would be simplier and supply more than enough boost to blow my stock internals lol. I can also do my own body work and paint so the hood ordeal doesnt matter so much to me
What do you guys think? Sorry about the long post but please help me decide on this one

Superchargers aren't as efficient as turbochargers, but your car IS american..... JK
For 800, if you do the work yourself and you're pretty resourceful, you could probably have a nice turbo setup, and blow away a supercharged Sunfire.

Rolla I know i know thats why i got that front was for a large intercooler.
You just know when a new idea comes out you at least have to think about it... I'll probalby end up going turbo but the whine of a supercharger is always cool too lol

---- it bro go with both turbo and supercharger ,nothing like seeing a huge meaty supercharger shoveing its way out of your hood . Then you could have dual BOV'S plus the sound of a turbo and supercharger dude that would ------ ROCK. I would love to have a supercharger peeking its way out of my trunk and a turbo under it. Go MAD MAX style hehe

I've seen 2 types of SC's on I4 engines. One that replaces the intake manifold completely and one that runs off the drive belt on the other side and runs a pipe to the stock (or aftermarket) throttle body. Which kind is yours? If you can get the latter (second) of the two mentioned you can still have a IC! Plus you'd get power right from idle.
I think it would be harder to go the turbo route since you can't get a manifold off an HF to work.

crx88Si,
This one is the roots style that goes over the intake manifold. The vortech style you are talking about would be sweet but its almost 4 grand for that setup without the intercooler.
As for the turbo manifold...I wont have a problem with that since I will just make or adapt one for a T3. I'm very fortunate to have a welder at home...
