Better have more than less piston to wall clearance. Too little and the pistons will scrape the cylinders if they expand too much.
Engines with forged pistons tend to have more piston to wall clearance than engines with cast pistons, because they expand more.
On my engine you can in fact see the rings and jiggle the pistons around a bit, it has piston slap but when the engine warms up it goes away. Yet another reason why you shouldn't push it when the engine is cold.

I just called my uncle told me the same thing. -the one ive worked on alot of v-8 motors with. he also said that forged pistons expand. a little gap is ok. thats an old "speed secret"

i asked the guy who built it when i pick it up.
he said that`s the right way to built FI motors with these pistons. and yes i can see the ring on mine too.

Yep, forged pistons always slap when they're cold because they expand so much. Compression test when the engine is warm and you would probably have good compression. Don't know why the bearings went to pot in so little time though.
