Then why wouldn't they give the defense access to all of the tapes they had recorded buks dad on? Because then the defense could use other tapes to prove a completely different angle. You can read about all of the evidence submitted in the case on the internet from the Florida state government. It's not anything significant, if it was, I wouldn't defend it. I've read a lot of transcripts, the original incitement and several other documents pertaining to this case and it's as vague and weak as could be. Essentially they're linking buks dad, who supported Chechnya having their own sovereign (just like what Yuriy and his family came from in the Ukraine- terrorist) in 1990-1993, to random bullshit some Cuban was doing who buks dad had never associated with, that they had no proof of buks dad being associated with and who buks dad didn't even know, in the early 2000's.

the reasoning given for not releasing the tapes is because they were gained in classified manners.

and from what i read they didn't even need the tapes to prove their case

I don't think the prosecutor shares the same sentiments as you, or he wouldn't have gone off on his last minute tirade where he introduced a bunch of half founded evidence in his closing argument; evidence that the judge would not accept to be presented in the case when the case began. He continued to do so after the objection had been granted in the defenses behalf. He did this several times to the point where the judge had to sit the jury down out side the court room and talk with them about how they need to absolutely disregard anything the prosecutor presented to them. This is just one of the times that the judge should have called a mistrial, but did not.

if buk's dad is really innocent.

why was he fingered in the first place? did they pick him at random? why were they following him for years?

even if he didn't mean for the money to go to terrorists in chechnya... he is still guilty if it did.

Johnny, I can't tell you why they chose him, they haven't released that information and I obviously can not accurately speculate the CIA's logic from the internet. I can tell you that I don't necessarily have any interest in defending buks father, but from a legal stand point, coming from some fruity liberal arts major with a focus in pre-law like myself, the case was shoddy and full of holes

in 05 he asked them if he was free to leave the country and they said he was so he left and worked for an american company working on american bases in egypt then couple years later moved to qatar and worked for an american company there.. filed taxes and regestered at the embassies.. my grand pa had a heart attack and my dad jumped on the first plane here.. and he got arrested at the air port they claimed they didnt know where hed ran off and that he was a fugitive when we have letters from the consul showing he regestered at both embassies not to mention the taxes he filed :1 plus egypt extradites people to the us and my dad has been to italy and the uk why didnt he get arrested there...

no new evidence as of 99 why didnt he get arrested then?

if you dad is a citizen he is free to travel to any of those countries anytime he wants.

he must have been convicted of something to be a fugitive right...
