My civic sounds like a WRX
 

I was driving home today and I was sitting at a light when my car started idling funny. I revved it up a bit and it sounded like the exhaust sounds on a WRX. I don't know what's causing it it's the first time this has ever happened. Anybody know what could be causing this? My a/f's and egts still looked normal while I drove it home.

haha, that sucks do a compression test and see the damage.. im guessing #3 is low

Here's a vid of what it sounds like. My car is not smoking it's just really cold outside. It's not doing it as bad as it was before but something is definetly still wrong.

haha yup

start with a compression test.

if by some miracle it passes, look into a bad injector possibly.

Thats alot of smoke. Like Jeffy said compression test.The usual ringland,headgasket or rod knock. There all totally awesome. The guess game is lame, compression leak down test is better than a 19 year old kid guessin from his parents computer room

The car is not smoking it's -20 degress celsius where i'm at. What could cause this to happen all of a sudden?

Basically make a list of 100 things. Go buy a compression tester and go from there

I already checked the wires. Yeah too bad it didn't sound like that normally. It was even worse before I took the video.

Sounds just like my car. Which by what you are talking about mine probably has the same problem and ive checked plug wires and all that good stuff. Maybe ill give it a compression test or leak down.

even that cold it wont smoke that much, it was about minus 10 degrees fahrenheit here a while back and i had less smoke then that cold, let alone warmed up

It does sound like my car...funny, yet sad.....Even being so cold, that's a hell of a lot of smoke....do what was suggested already...let us know the results....good luck

I had a problem like that before. Mine was simple though my timing jumped due to shifting into 2nd instead of fourth :1 I adjusted the timing and changed the plugs worked like a champ then I sold it and it blew up :-\ But when I was looking it jumped four teeth.

From the video it doesnt sound like a total dead hole that a simple ignition/plug problem would cause. Like mentioned before, do a compression test and report back. Save #3 for last....the suspense will make it exciting :)

That sucks I hope that you are able to fix it. Yeah do a wet test on that cylinder to see if it jumps at all. I am so glad that mine is always somthing simple. Good luck with the fix bro.
