Muffler Question
 

Ok On my turbo civic im going to run my exhaust out to the middle of the car. What is a good midway muffler to us to quiet the car down but not mess up the flow and loose hp? Thanks

A lot of cats run the Summit Racing Turbo Muffler. I rock the Magnaflow Muffler. Doesn't matter just as long as it's as big in and out really.

word... B&B Autoparts had some nice turbo mufflers for like 25 bucks in stock, not sure if they were the real thing on knock offs but those would get the job done

Don't run a chambered muffler. If you can't see right through it, it is a bottleneck.

Dynomax welded ultraflo is a great unit, deep without being buzzy on a turbo car. As far as a midway down the pipe muffler... meaning you plan on running another one at the end?... I'd go with a regular old resonator or glasspack.

If you don't like exhaust drone (I don't) putting a turndown at the end of the muff to direct the sound at the concrete does a good job.

Basically I want to run a open down pipe, well to like the shifter but its to loud now to drive around. so I wanted a good muffler that doesnt loose hp but brings the sound down some. Thanks everyone

Get an LS1 throttle body ($30) and either a low psi wastegate actuator (early 80's Saab, 4 to 5.5 psi) or a length of cable that you can yank it open with. The TB is aluminum, so your downpipe needs to be a smidge long to avoid thermally ------- it. Just join stock exhaust/muffler in right before the TB, golden.

your not planning on having the exhuast exit right under the passenger compartment are you?? that seems like it might be a little risky for carbon monoxide or whatever it is. :-\

run that dump tube out thru the bumper just in front of the front tire. it'd be tite

im going to dump it behind the tire. What muffler is straight thru but will quiet the sound down?

I ran 2 1/2" downpipe and a Cherry Bomb glass pack with it coming out in front of the rear tire.It was quite reasonable and cost next to nothing.I would recommend just clamping the glass pack as they are under 20 bucks and need replacing once a year at least.I used a turndown as well.
