alright i ran into my first problem the head bolts of the d15b8 block /z6 head won't fit. doesn't work with the d16y8/z6, they are too long. so I am assuming the 10 head bolts of the y7 block work. am i off?

also the timing belt tensioner is different too go fig.

alright nvm i found out the problem the y7 bolts will fit nicely as they are 120mm bolts. the z6 are 140mm bolts.

this combo requires me to use 1 z6 bolt by the vtec solenoid and the rest y7 bolts.

see i knew you useless scottsi.

Just set the bottom end at TDC, and align your cam gear against the head's plastic cam timing marker like normal, and it'll go in mechanical time fine.

Beware the D16Y, the big problem with them is they have oil passages 20-30% smaller than stock... it's probably better than your D15 though.

But hes gonna use the complete z6 head so hes golden.

Maybe, but my NA camaro will smoke the ---- out of you. Even if you turboed this piece of crap i'd still smoke the ---- out of you.

sell me the exhaust manifold

Re: mini me took a dump

you want the y7 manifold? its sitting on the back of my truck collecting dust. hope nobody took it as it also has a good catalytic converter

also the new engine d16y7z6 is complete and running in the car. less torque down low but definably more hp up top i can tell with my butt dyno. but frankly speaking the car just runs way better. the transition to vtec is alot more gradual. the swap eliminated an odd idle problem.

but something happen if you consider it an ever so minor teeny-weenie problem. I uh miss diagnose it.

turns out 1 of the 6 bolts to the pressure plate came out and it was rubbing against the pressure plate and starter.

i had to get a new pressure plate (exedy stage 1 clutch) and buy a new starter. used the old clutch as it only has like 10k miles on it if that.

but anyways I pulled the motor and trans as one. i took off the z6 head and started to reassemble the new block. right about the time i was mating the trans together i found the carnage. the old block is still good technically. but since i was this far i decided i have gone to far. it was time to update the 220k Beat the ---- up d15b8 to a 70k babied d16y7.

anyways pics to come soon. as soon as i get the pictures from the digital camera I stole borrowed from my friend.

oh yea scotsi?
My Car would ROCK YOUR SOCKS OFF in the gas mileage department BITCH! and i can sit 5 people Mexican style. :P

Psh cars that get good gas milage aren't making enough power, I'm loving my 240 miles per tank, but i still piss off intergalactic space travelers and get 90mpg on the freeway while making liberals mad, true story.
