The timing mark on the D16Y is 12 degrees, not 16. Set your idle area of you ignition map to 12 degrees when you set the timing, it'll work out fine.
Just set the bottom end at TDC, and align your cam gear against the head's plastic cam timing marker like normal, and it'll go in mechanical time fine. Beware the D16Y, the big problem with them is they have oil passages 20-30% smaller than stock... it's probably better than your D15 though. |

Spun bearing=metals like are totally ------ each other and like make tons of noise. When you revs it sounds like uber loud When cold motor sounds like a wrx Drive on long time to get sparkles all over the oil pan. These sparkles will make a space ship and take you to mars to meet Jesus |

lol. i decided since the motor is in my possession. i may as well get ready with an extra 100cc. so stop with the diagnosing already
