I dont see why a ls/vtec wouldnt pass smog in cali. I highly doubt the inspectors are going to be like "hey thats a jdm b16a obd0 head" If running on a good map like a p72 or something it would probably pass just fine.

As far as it being the "best" I dont think so, I'd take a GSR or ITR anyday over a ls/vtec. LS/vtecs are ------- cheap. Thats why they call them the "poormans vtec" They do produce a bit more torque than itr's and gsr's. But its made up in the stroke. (same bore size)

Im probably going to get bashed for this but whats ITR? ??? and they know what heads on it, they can se the vtec silinowed(sp) plus they have a book with specs on most motors, so im told.

negative jeff....:( the ls/vtec's dont pass ref inspection. they could pass regular smog...but would never do a ref inspection. if someone can get an ls/vtec to pass REF INSPECTION in cali, i will send you pics of my mom naked...swear to god

ps, i have a friend that passed ref in cali, I'll see if i can get him on the board.
