ls/Vtec Stuff

i was wondering why everyone used the ls block to do the ls/vtec conversion.can you not use the gs or rs block?or does the ls produce greater numbers?

its the same block....people just call it the "LS block"....

Re:ls/Vtec Stuff

Dont be confused.. the GS/RS/LS all use the Same Engine B18a or B18b more or less the same bottom end.

Its just common terminology, "I have a ls/vtec in my GS integra" meaning, he slapped a vtec head on his engine.

holy ----...dude i need to get some new friends..or mainly one....see i dont know if any of you guys know someone or have a friend that thinks he knows everything about everything, well i do. and he said that the ls block with a vtec head would produce the best output results or something :| i need a new friend

What he hell?

Um, we are your friends man.. I guess? Got any naked pictures of your sister?

Anyways, LS=RS.. I think the only difference is all the RS cars came in auto.. someone correct me if I'm wrong on that one. There are plenty of dyno results out there giving you the benefits of the LS/Vtec swap, just go and look around.

^or your mom? is she hot?

yeah, the LS, GS, RS, all the same block, people just call it the LS motor. ---kinda like havin a B16, either a USDM or a JDM, its all a B16 when you talk about it.
LS, GS, RS, its all an LS when you talk about it.

His mom I hella fine, got ass for days ;D. But can the ls/vtec be smogged in california? This guy at a motorsports store told me it can by just making itlook like its a b18b, ahe had one smogged. is it true or is it bullshit. im kinda if on the guys hes pretty sketch.

HondaTuner 06-06-2004 11:56 AM

Re:ls/Vtec Stuff

Gathering from what I think you said, just move out of California man, those smog tests out there are crap. I understand the need to not pollute the environment any more, but even out here they tack us with resonators and catalytic converters, when the diesel trucks are allowed to run straight pipes. Its bull.

Re:ls/Vtec Stuff

I dont see why a ls/vtec wouldnt pass smog in cali. I highly doubt the inspectors are going to be like "hey thats a jdm b16a obd0 head" If running on a good map like a p72 or something it would probably pass just fine.

As far as it being the "best" I dont think so, I'd take a GSR or ITR anyday over a ls/vtec. LS/vtecs are ------- cheap. Thats why they call them the "poormans vtec" They do produce a bit more torque than itr's and gsr's. But its made up in the stroke. (same bore size)

But the LS motors can be just as stripped down as the RS ones.. so you got me. Not like the all power GS mothas

Re:ls/Vtec Stuff

Im probably going to get bashed for this but whats ITR? ??? and they know what heads on it, they can se the vtec silinowed(sp) plus they have a book with specs on most motors, so im told.

negative jeff....:( the ls/vtec's dont pass ref inspection. they could pass regular smog...but would never do a ref inspection. if someone can get an ls/vtec to pass REF INSPECTION in cali, i will send you pics of my mom naked...swear to god

I heard LS/vtecs don't last, something about not getting enough oil to the head?

lol.. i think your thinking about not getting enough oil to the rod bearings.. and thats solved by putting a vtec oil pump on.

Re:ls/Vtec Stuff

i have 1990 Integra and its a five speed with a B18A1 and going to get a B18B than go ls/vtec,the reason y people go ls/vtec is cus its not a usual thing u can change the head and become a GSR but if u want to become a Type R you have to do some mods to your bottom end.

Turbo90Accord4DR 06-21-2004 12:51 AM

Re:ls/Vtec Stuff

wow.. your a moron.

streetracer42084 06-21-2004 12:56 AM

Re:ls/Vtec Stuff

i'm not a moron i've just seen people do it and they do just fine with it, i would go ls/vtec on my motor but i prefer more horsepower out of the b18b and the torque and go vtec with that,u can do anything to the bottom as long as you do it right.

Turbo90Accord4DR 06-21-2004 01:00 AM

Re:ls/Vtec Stuff

lol.. you dont make it a gsr.. proofread your post.... I have built a few ls/vtecs.. and you would be wasting money if you took your b18a out and put in a b... the added hp is from the head... and its like .something more compression.... dont waste your money.

WhiteZC 06-21-2004 01:08 AM

Re:ls/Vtec Stuff

^^^^^^^LOL

well update again....my ------ stupid ass friend thinks theres a difference with the gs/rs/ls motors...he says one has more power....and he means like a good 10-15 hp more....

Re:ls/Vtec Stuff

my motor is running with almost no restrictions and i'm running obd1 i like the motor it has just want more out of it and i know what this motor can do i beat a crx Si.

HMT-Admin 06-21-2004 01:20 AM

Re:ls/Vtec Stuff

A b18a and a B18b have identicle bottom ends, neither one is more powerful than the other. Both have the exact same pr4 pistons, same stroke, same rods same everything. The only thing that is different is on the 96+ B18b's use a different Part # Oil pump, mainly for the crank sensor pick up, but rumor has it, the 96+ b18b/B20b pumps will be adaqute for Vtec head swaps.

The difference in HP between the B18a/b's are all in the Intake manifold, camshafts & ecu. Both engines use the exact same head casting.

*attempts to hijack thread* anyone know what ever happend to those guys? Have they released a new video in a while? "This is what our whip could look like with overnight parts from japan"

HMT-Admin 06-21-2004 01:31 AM

Re:ls/Vtec Stuff

No offense, but is rebuilding the engine yourself a task you think you can undertake? I mean I know it was quite the quest in beating that crx si and all. But rebuilding your engine isnt for an amature.

I beleive Biggmike posted some good books for you to read first ;D

streetracer42084 06-21-2004 01:34 AM

Re:ls/Vtec Stuff

no i'm not going to ---- with it like that i'm going to take it to a shop and get it done after i'm done with the rebuild i'm gonna start adding the bolt on power.
