look, i love America more than the next guy, but we're not good at building commuter cars. full size trucks and sports cars are our forte.

because it costs too much, not because they can't

there isn't anything special about typical import car and a domestic made one, except one is cheaper, and uses cheaper parts... cause its cheaper...

we bought a 2006 trailblazer and we are pretty happy with it. the only things to go wrong so far is the highest setting of our AC #5 stopped working. then the car would brake while driving by itself. Something to do with the stablilty control. Both of which were fixed at the dealer.
While that was getting fixed we testdrove a SS model and now want to trade it in for that.

Actually the RSX is much more fun to drive than the Cobalt, the Cobalt has a bit of a quicker ET and not so peaky of a powerband but the Cobalt's soft stock motor mounts have been known to wheel hop the axles into the grave. I like the way the RSX drives much better too, the Cobalt's wheels are too big to be effective and the tires suck they understeer way too easy. Plus they drive like a lead sled, it feels like the wheels only have about 10 degrees of rotation one way or the other. Parking lots are a pain in the ***.

I have a 22re yota. Insanely great gas mileage but 0 power. Shouldn't be buying a truck for performance if you can get around it. It's whats reliable and cheap imo.
I love GM. But the sonoma/s-10's kinda suck. The 4.3 is nice but not balanced correctly. It's kindova bastard little part LT1. But worse. Less power but the same gas mileage. And shittier reliability.
Get whatever will fit the bill. If power is the most important to you then pick something GM. It could be reliable it could not be, narrow down your choices and more specific points can be brought up.
