Re:A little story...
there were olds 442s back in the day
and no there were not 442ci
4-4-2 stands for 4 barrel carb, 4 speed, dual exhaust
69 olds 442
13s @ 103+mph
thats stock trim.
i'm not sure what 442 stands for in the new olds cars. probably 4 cyclinder (something, maybe 4 barrel carb?) two cams

Hate to be a dick, but lets examine the 427 Cobra from a different light:
1) Big blocks overheat
2) The 289 Cobras mop up the 427 Cobras on a road track. The 427's are quite simply too much to control. What's the point of dropping a million dollars to have a machine that only does one thing really really well - light up the tires? I have a junkyard turbo CRX that does that.
Uh, I should probably modify my second point to mention that a 427 Cobra also attracts ----- really really well, too...
Call up Factory Five and ask for a brochure. They send you a THICK packet of info and one or two 3X5 pictures of a completed car. I've heard of people getting in + out of one of the kits for ~$13.5K, but they reused the yucky Rustang seats. I'm also a HUGE fan of the 5.0 HO, it's a very robust engine and EEC-IV is a very tunable EFI system.

302ci isn't enough for me when going all throttle.

probably true, you have to tune a car you are going to road race specifically for the track. big blocks really put out too much tourqe to road race. thats why the vette race cars have 427ci bored/stroked small blocks.
but about the big blocks over heating, my 396 has never overheated. but i did put a MASSIVE radiator in it from a 69 pickup truck. but i seriously have never heard of anyone having cooling problems with a bbc

Re:A little story...
all I gotta say is a $10,000 dollar sport bike will whooop any corvette, 427, BS, so there!
and guess what, they have inline 4's!!!!!!!
Honda CBR 600F4i
o - 60 mph in 2.8 sec.
lets see a vet do that, or a cobra, the only thing that can do that is a jet or a methenol dragster (4 or 5 seec cars.
but they cost millions comparedd to thousands.
