Stay out of those situations and you dont need to worry about it...plain and simple.

i agree with this stay out of those situations.....but with that beening said i do carry.....my job kind of puts me in those situations....installing cable tv in the ghetto...and i an truthfully say i might not have the balls to use it, but most of the times just showing it does the job....other then when i'm working i leave it at home....i don't need to go to the store......it makes my wife feel better that i have it when i'm working

My old man was walking down the road with my at the time toddler nephew, my mother, and sister. A pittbull came out of nowhere and started to charge them. He told everyone to back up and popped off a couple at the dog. Unfortunatly he missed and the dog got away safely but he did succeed on detering the dog. This dog eventually was documented mauling other local dogs much larger than it and attacking many people. It had to be put down once it was all said and done.

How does that make anyone a target?

How the ---- could he have just simply avoided that situation, stay locked inside his house and not go outside? You never know when fucked up situations are going to occur.

How did it make more chaos out of a surprise incident?

How the ---- can people make comments claiming they know how that Joe citizen is a wuss and wrong about how Joe citizen will react when confronted, but they instead know?

Most people I know that carry guns won't carry them if they slacked off going to the range and ensuring they are %110 comfortable with the gun. That is the way it should be, of course some old ---- that never squeezed off a round it not going to react well if confronted and happens to have a gun in his pocket.

Only criminals have guns. So if you walk into a bank with a gun and want to rob it, you get to, none of the tellers, security or customers can have guns on them, which means the criminals of course get to call the shots.

Canadas logic is this: If we require registration for longarms, and make harsh restrictions or straight out prohibit side arms, EVERYONE will comply and no one will use a gun in a criminal situation because it would have to be registered, and you can't get the permit without a clean criminal record...

Here is the problem though, criminals, don't care about the law, that is what in fact, makes them criminals.

So they take the firearms away from the law abiding citizens, and only the criminals are left with the guns.

Liberals... :S

Agreed...I'm not arguing that.

He missed the dog, what if it would have hit someone else or one of the family members he was with. Like you said, ---- happens.

A taser, mace or any of the million other deterants they sell on the market these days would have neutralized that situation and not put everyone else that was in the vicinity of him firing that weapon in risk.

No one is claiming they know anything, people are hypothesizing and drawing upon their own experiences.

Most people cant drive a ------- car...but they should be allowed to carry, concealed even?

Law of averages. 99% of people in a hostile situation requiring the use of a firearm happens to be their FIRST experience in doing so.

A *TRUE* autonomic Adrenaline spike is a funny thing that triggers funny thinking that CANNOT be accurately be simulated in training.

to put it plainly, people do stupid ---- when they are scared. irrational situations trigger irrational thinking by otherwise rational people.

When I say keep yourself out of the situation, i am more aiming towards the individuals that see carrying a gun as a way of intimidating or
gaining "respect" or as a means to make up for lack of their own self confidence. showing off to their buddies "yo homie look at dis piece"

If you carry it. you better be ready willing and able to use it without hesitation. Also to deal with any and all consequences associated with it.

i along with lots of other people have used this arguement before, youd be amazed at how many anti-gun people will skirt that point. i remember a thread from HT GDD where people just completley ignored that fact.

I wonder what the statistics are in various states that have varied gun laws for:

Accidental Gun Deaths vs. Crimes with guns used.

I would assume that Crime is lower in Texas because everyone carries, but I would also assume that accidental gun deaths are higher.
