Laptop RAM question

Can I use PC133 RAM in a powerbook that originally came with PC100?

It's an older powerbook g4, first gen so that's why it uses PC100. Anybody know for sure?

Re: Laptop RAM question

As long as they have the same pins, I'm almost certain you can. The PC133 ram will just run at PC100 speeds. Thats how it works on desktop motherboards.

Re: Laptop RAM question

all ram should be backward compatible as long as it the same pins. EX PC3100 will work in a PC2100 machine

this is what i was told by the guy i bought my RAM from

what does backwards compatible mean?

ive put ram into a laptop and a desktop before where all the pins matched up but the memory wasnt recognized..

Re: Laptop RAM question

Backwards compatible means that the newer faster memory can still be used in older machines.

Try it, might work fine, might crap out on ya. We have shitty computers and work and some of them sure don't like pc2700 RAM. Were ordering some pc2100, which should fix the problem.

Re: Laptop RAM question

Ive been told it works in most cases. But I haven't tried it yet. I bought an older laptop off of ebay to tune my car with and as soon as it gets here I need to upgrade the memory. I asked my computer nerd friend the same question and he said this pc133 memory will work on a pc100 laptop board.
