HA! that's probably the most ignorant statement I've ever read on these forums- and that's saying quite a bit. I'm a Jehovah's Witness myself, and to tell you the truth, even though I grew up in this religion, it wasn't something I've always wanted, even when my mom would talk to me about it I'd be thinking in my head, "aw man do I really have to listen to this? I'd rather be skating or something" and I would just kind of tune out. Then I moved to San Diego for a few years, seeing the lifestyle of the people there, I realized that it wasn't what I wanted for my life- I wanted to know that we have some sort of hope. Also it's nice knowing there's no such thing as hell. when you die, that's it you just plain die. There is a hope of the ressurection(sp?) for the righteous and those that never had a chance to come to know Jehovah, and that means hope to see your dead loved ones again. Who wouldn't want to have that kind of a hope? Also to clear this part up- Witnesses beleive that we'll be living forever in a paradise earth. not going to heaven except for a select few. It gets kind of complicated, but that's the gist of it.
Also, god is not jesus, they are separate.
My only point to this post is that for the longest time I felt like you guys did, that why are you talking to me about this religion crap when I could be doing something better. But one day my thoughts changed, and if you ever wonder why Witnesses keep coming to your door when you're clearly not interested, (It's not like we can't tell from your face that you want us to go away), but we have to keep going back because you never know when something might happen in your life that makes you want to seek out religion. Maybe that won't ever happen. but we still have to try.
