Do wealthy taxpayers pay their fair share of taxes? Polls consistently show Americans believe they don't. But are they right?

With the wealthiest 1 percent of taxpayers paying roughly 33.7 percent of income taxes and earn just 16.5 percent of income, it's hard to argue they're not paying a fair share by any reasonable definition of "fair."

so the top 50% of people earn 86.1% of the income

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The share of total federal income taxes paid by the top one percent of tax filers increased to 39.38 percent in 2005, while the tax share of the top 5 percent climbed to 59.67 percent. The income tax share of the top half rose to 96.93 percent, according to recent Internal Revenue Service (IRS) data. The tax shares are the highest on record for these groups in comparable IRS data going back to 1986.

Yeah, and nobody gives a ----, because that's not the topic that was brought up. The topic was that we're taxed way too much for what we don't get. ----, I don't even want anything, just leave me alone.

What the democrats propose, or what some rich guy pays in taxes isn't the issue. The issue is that our socialist country (the one you keep defending) is bullshit. If a guy makes 100 bazillion dollars and pays 3 million a year in taxes, I DON'T GIVE A ----. What I'm saying is that if I pay even $1,000 a year in taxes, that's $1,000 I don't get to spend, on my family, my life, my pursuit of happiness. Get off your class warfare bullshit and your defense of our government ------- us (and the god damn rich people who didn't hire you as thier lawyer) (and also don't give a ---- about you) and get with the program. We're ALL getting screwed, and it's because people love defending the government when their parties clown is in the hot seat.

If your argument is that the rich guy gets screwed more because he pays more, fine, but the bottom line is when Stevemode gets taxed $1,000 it effects me. When the rich guy makes a bazillion and pays 3 million, he's not fazed. Numerically he's getting screwed harder, yes, but here in the real world, I'm getting screwed harder. Step out of big government Republican talking points and come hang out in America sometime.

I bribed 5 of my friends with booze to come and vote ron paul wednesday night. He got 3rd in our ward of 106 people with 14 votes. He won Jefferson county.
