Thanks for all the input. I went and looked at the truck and wow what a piece of ----, the only thing that was decent looking on it was the engine. Although he does have an original 327 with 2 speed power glide tranny that i just might pick up. I told him i'd sell the honda for $3000 and trade the turbo kit i have for the engine, probably wont go for it but what the ---- might as well try. So anyone here want a honda????

DOHC vs OHV, the only thing they have in common is that they are 60* v6's

"Fiero," and the answer is yes/no. Some things about the 2.8 were tweaked for the Fiero, they got bigger crank mains among other things. Still a low grade engine.

Incorrect, they are the same base engine design, it is not a case of bank seperation angle. The crank on the 3.4 has a timing chain that drives a balancershaft that rides in the cam bore of the 2.8/3.1 based block. The balancer shaft has a faggot toothed pulley dangling off of it that drives the timing belt for the quad cam miscegenation in the manner that a crank pulley would on a normally designed engine.

Between packing the timing belt gear over top of the timing chain, changing the entire timing belt R&R procedure multiple times with even more TSBs about revised tools and procedures since it's nearly impossible to get correct the first time, and being packed into a poorly designed no-room-to-work-on-it engine bay cluttered with brittle plastic vacuum tubing and shoddy wiring the overall effect is classic GM of the 80s-90s. Honduh, desiring to be more like GM since Soichiro's death, copied it when designing the K-series.

FAKLAD for life!

An Evo + a tactrix cable will allow you to get 100 whp more to the wheels than they came with stock, guaranteed. Quick reflash to factory spec for warranty work and you're golden.

thats exactly what i ment by saying its the 60* v6. the block design is similar, hence the refernce to the 60* v6. all of the 60*v6's share similar blocks (2.8, 3.1, 3100, 3.4 DOCH, 3400, 3500, 3900). The main difference that makes the 3.4 DOHC "different" is the DOHC vs OHV. Thus, IMO, a bigger PITA to work on than the OHV family of 60* V6's.
