Info on 2.8L V6 - chevy
 

I tried the search function and well that didn't help much; I'm just wondering, what are the problems with these engines? The vehicle it's in is a 1984 S10, i would have prefered the 4.3l but thats not the case. I've heard the head gaskets go on them but thats about it, any other info would be much appreciated.

I don't know if the rwd versions are different, but my stock head gasket only went because the w/g on the old turbo setup let go and the boost spike killed the gasket. Other than that, I have had no issues with mine..

I didn't think there was a rwd version i just figured it would be fwd. I figure if i can't swap in a v8 (typical i know) then i might as well turbo the mofo and give that a try.

go out to your truck

push down on the brake pedal half way then ease on the gas.. if the car starts to inch forward apply more braking if it doesnt move let of the brakes till it does a little bit then apply a little braking till the car stops moving again take ur foot off the gas now STOMP the gas pedal with the brake pedal applied to where you need it.. easiest safest way to do a burn out without ending up sideways or smashed into a wall :6

ofcourse with me i learned the hardway and stomped brake pedal then gas then released brake pedal too soon with the steering wheel turned had the back end whip out from under me the whole car did what seemed to be a full 360 :6

Thanks for the tips however i don't own it, yet, checkin git out tomorrow i just wanted some info on the engine before looking at it and as for burn outs with rwd vehicles the only fwd car i have ever owned is my civic, my first "car" was a 1981 GMC suburban with the carb'd 350, then i moved onto a highway patrol car (1991 Caprice, posi rear end). I just have no idea about S10's and 2.8l engines, i do appreciate all the info though.

The carbed 2.8s in the s10s are pieces of gutless ----. I would rather have a 2.5 4cyl or the 4.3.

My civic is on its last legs, and he put some work into the s10 plus hes throwing in a 327 and 2 speed power glide tranny. figured i'd just trade him straight up, paint the fucker flat black put the 327 in it and enjoy. I think i'm done with civics, too japanese for me.
