You can still uncap today. You just have to have a 5100 and hardwire in a couple wires and you can reflash it. I wish I was electronically inclined enough to have it flash just the speed caps after it's on, kinda like how the ram-editing cheat stuff (gameshark, etc) works. Just not sure if it's possible to flash while it's on. Usually, not. |

Never had any problems a router/modem reset couldn't solve but i'm not impressed w/these #'s

Wireless through wrt54g i think before modem reset

Wireless shouldn't make it much slower. Latency might increase and if encryption is enabled the speed might be slower, but niether will cause a noticeable difference. If your network isn't encrypted, you probably have others using it. If you have other computers, see if they have programs running that use the connection, or if they have any malware. If the network is encrypted, computers are "clean" and not running p2p programs, wireless shouldn't make much of a difference. Also, linksys (and maybe some others) have the "keep connections alive" default at a pretty high amount of time. So every now and then you'll need to reset the modem to close them out. Or, get a custom firmware (like DD-WRT) or edit the settings...not sure if you can on oem firmware. http://www.speedtest.net/result/280900188.png |

yea both laptops are clean, no malware or p2p.
it is encrypted so noone is on it, but there is a big difference when i connect through LAN, its weird. I also set my laptops to only connect through wireless-G instead of the other modes so it would force it to connect with wireless g |

If its only wireless then I'd try a different channel, maybe something is causing interference.
Being on wireless alone shouldn't slow the connection noticeably though. |

I guess I'm lucky, both my sons work for comcast and they are always upgrading my entertainment with new ----.
