It's the only keyhole on the entire car. German engineering? ---- that they're only good for funny commercials. Ended up having AAA send a crazy old man from the local key shop to slim jim it open. He smelled funny but he was good ----.
Later the "power" locks stop working. I realized that they aren't really power locks at all, but a terrific pneumatic system with air tubes running all over the place to open the locks. That's gonna be fun to troubleshoot.
At least it's a V6 so it's not a total turd, but I still hate VWs.

vws are soo wierd, its like they thought of all the different ways they could make stuff work with less regard for practicality and what ideas would work the best. I mean, who bolts their flywheel to the trans and faces the clutch cover toward the engine? WTF

jago, the air locking system is pretty reliable. the vacuum tubes are run in you door harnesses then back to the trunk, the pump is in front of your passenger tail-light. most of the time the power locks dont work is a loose connection in the hoses, the pump doesnt go bad too often.
and for the record, corrados suck a fat dick (like most emo VW owners)

Re: I hate VWs
Just be glad someone hadn't tried to use a key from another VW in it... That could have lead to a headache and a half with the lock cylinder going to free spin constantly untill the correct key was put in again. Same thing with the ignition switch.
Only reason I'm in school to work on VWs is so I can make money an not burn out on working on my honda as I thought about going to work for a local honda shop back home.

Yea The engine feel pretty torquey stock, I'd love to do some basic mods but I hate VWs. I'd have to try a burnout without my girl knowing or she'd get pissy. And about the tranny, it shifts nice now and I'd like to keep it that way
I've read tons of horror stories about the locks failing, thank god they work now.
On another note, she's had the car for about 2 years, didn't come with a remote. I found out that it had keyless entry from the factory, so we picked up a remote and that's all it needed
