The cars are sold off, and unlike America people don't buy them for their 12 year old to drive in Japan - there just simply isn't capability to own a car like that (keep in mind this is a country where most people ride their bike vs. driving a car, and where you pay exorbent fees just to park in the big cities) they are sold off to strip yards, which in turn get American JDM retailers who go over and buy what they can, haul it back to America, pay a tax for importing it and in America its gold.

I have a friend who moved here from Japan. She said it costs like 2 or 3 grand to get your license there too. My buddy is over there right now in the marines and his roommate just bought a R33 for like $3500.

If you notice though that the older cars that are done up like 86 and r32,r33 etc. are all companies so they have the money to pay for that ----. Takumi's dad must be slanging that tofu to afford their 86!
