if he's willing to sell for 2k, offer less than 2k, don't offer what he wants ;)

I paid 2750 for my 260z... 71 is a good year, and i think its worth every penny he's asking. '70 and part of '71 had the lowest curb wt ever in Z production. And a fully restored 240 can go for BIG money. The market for them is increasing. Try and get him lower, but if the rust is low (a demon among Z cars) I'd say take it for whatever. Its hard to find a low-rust 240z outside of california (and even then its not always garunteed). I'd love to get my hands on a '71 240.

i'll second this, a 240 is a rare find. from what the pics tell, this car isn't banged up. 3k is somewhat reasonable, only because we dont know how the car runs. but to find a straight 240 is a feat. if you wanna spend 3000, i might as well sell you my 280. if it will drive, pick it up. just think about the probability you'll find another 240z.

your best bet is to buy it and slowly restore it. just leave it in the garage and slowly bring it back to shape (if the car is all original). everytime i think about touching my Z, i think about barret-jackson auctions...and to keep a car original is to maintain a value that no mods can surpass.
