Seriously, I was having the same problem in my car (no carpet). I called a local upholstery shop and bought some insulation. It is silver on one side, and green fiber on the other. It killed all the heat, and I put it down with 3m spray adhesive(foil side up) In another car, I used a metallic type water heater blanket... no ----. Both work great. My engine probably generates quite a bit more heat too (5.7L)... and it still worked. Don't get screwed into using dyna-mat if all you want is a heat barrier, dyna-mat is too dense to insulate properly from heat. It actually seems to conduct heat.
