High hp and stock sleeves, chime in.

I'm in a discussion with some people on another board about turbocharging.. and this girl says that the only 300 whp+ B series she's seen cracked their sleeves and thats why everyone should sleeve their engines no matter what..

These specific instances were sleeve failure (i.e. sleeve cracking, walk), not detonation. I've also seen around 400 horsepower on stock sleeves, but these instances are not by chance. These are finely tuned engines that most people cannot afford, and still, their stock sleeves are not going to last. Those cars are NOT daily drivers. For sure.
I'm trying to pull up examples of atleast a few 300+ whp HMT cars that are still on their stock sleeves and DD's but I can't really think of any (although I do know there are a few). Anyone out there that can help me out here with some links or whatnot, I'd appreciate it ;)

I could see needing sleeving for over 500whp on a B series, maybe 300whp for a D series :S. I wonder were she gets her info :-\ ?

www.evans-tuning.com

450+whp on stock D-series sleeves...

650+whp on stock B-series sleeves...

So it can be done with conservative tuning.

it can be done, lots of them blow up though.

go the gas station, and get put premium in your car, but sometimes premium isnt almost 93octane... blow your motor... crack a sleeve etc...

lots of motors have take high hp (for a honda) with stock sleeves, but about a ---- ton of them have blown up and cracked sleeves at that same power level or lower.

sleeving them is a good idea if you want to make serious power, or else you will be holding your breath everytime you go WOT
