Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics

Looking at stock or stockish engine bays makes me want to stab someone from frustration. Aside from a solid motor, everything else is trash, from PCV's that don't work even when new, to elaborate divided O2 housings for the wastegate that can't even open past 30* anyway, to 60mm thottle bodies with a 35mm inlet elbow. Oh and let's not forget the 2G cruise control that just HAD to be vacuum operated so Mistu gave it its own vacuum pump and 87 different vacuum solenoids and all associated lines instead of just using a simple stepper motor like any other car company. And you can't leave out the single radiator fan that only cools half of the radiator (the side that's cooler anyway, no less). Would it really be that big of a deal to just switch on both fans at once? No that would make too much sense, let's just use a two speed single fan and maybe if we run it on high it will keep the temp in check in spite of the other half of the radiator that's getting baked by the turbo and yet seeing zero airflow. Yea but it keeps it nice and warm in the winter. Sweet, so while we're at it, making things warm and all, we'll throw the cool side water pump inlet pipe directly behind the turbo and under the manifold with zero heat shielding or coatings, that way all the coolant that got sort of cooled by the one radiator fan will get heated right back up before it even hits the motor.

And that's just a small portion of Mitsu's stupidity... don't even get me started on the DSM modding community...

Clean car but from the pictures DSM engine bays look like a clusterf*ck.

Ya the engine bay's can look rather busy. I actually have all the emissions removed so as far as vacuum lines go, I hardly have any which helps clean it up. But I also still have Cruise Control, Power Steering, A/C, I've kept all the creature comforts so that does mean there's still a lot of lines and what not ran throughout.

Steve, so when is the 1st bbq going to be? If it hasn't broken, then damn straight I'll bring it. But come late September, the car is going to be stored, and is getting a completely new turbo setup. Then cry baby here can shut up about my current manifold/turbo setup. It's all good though, bring the hate man ;D

What are you getting, a bolt on SBR cast manifold and a 16G? That would be SICK! Make sure you wastegate it off of only one runner to complete the classic DSM stupidity effect. ::)

I managed to walk away with 3rd place in the 1G category! Thanks for the comments so far. And ya I am loving E85. I remember having a thread on here about injectors, and a lot of people ---- talking the stuff. A lot of us have converted over to it, and it's proving to be an excellent option, especially for the cost.

And the hate is appreciated as well :y If the only thing you have against my car is my bolt on turbo (not a 16g and I own nothing SBR), then maybe you can show some love when I put this on this winter, and hang either a BW S258 or S362 off it! I'm slowly acquiring the parts for the new setup, and so far I have the SLS T3 manifold, the Tial 44mm wastegate, and the 4" intake. Still need to purchase the turbo, and whatever flanges and extra exhaust piping I'll need to route my current downpipe up to the new turbo, and the WG dump.

There was 166 cars in attendance but these were the only ones that interested me. I don't take a lot of pictures and it really shows.

AWD evo 3 conversion, all parts, minus manitenance and performance, are OEM mitsu.
