Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
We have a big mitsu cookout here this sunday, so I decided to get the car looking as nice as it can. I powder coated all the piping, and stripped my ugly ass powder off the strut ba, and just cleaned the engine bay with some of that foamy crapr. Gave the car a wash and a wax. My roommate apparently thought my rims were gunmetal this whole time, until I finally cleaned them. Anywho, enjoy. I'll sit back and wait for the "DSM - ---- YOU YA ------ SON OF A ----" replies :6
Last dyno day which was earlier this spring, the car was putting down 366 at all wheels on Dyno Dynamics, on E85. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...0242_small.JPG http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...0238_small.JPG http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...0287_small.JPG |

Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
4G64's can be found in many Hyundai's as well. I chose that valve cover for 2 reasons
1) Because I thought it was kinda funny 2) Because my other 2 have cracks in them so it was my only choice unless I JB Welded the others. Thanks for the comments thus far! Maaco at it's finest right here! |

And yes it definately needs some tint. That'll maybe happen next summer. |
Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
Your cast manifold sucks ass and so does your bolt on turbo. But I'll give you props for not running a GM MAF. That would have really put the DSM gayness cliche over the top.
|
Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
right on, very clean 1g.

Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
Will you be bring the car to the one and only HMT meet of the year (whenever the ---- we get around to it), or will it be broken by then?
Don't answer that. :-X |

Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
Looking at stock or stockish engine bays makes me want to stab someone from frustration. Aside from a solid motor, everything else is trash, from PCV's that don't work even when new, to elaborate divided O2 housings for the wastegate that can't even open past 30* anyway, to 60mm thottle bodies with a 35mm inlet elbow. Oh and let's not forget the 2G cruise control that just HAD to be vacuum operated so Mistu gave it its own vacuum pump and 87 different vacuum solenoids and all associated lines instead of just using a simple stepper motor like any other car company. And you can't leave out the single radiator fan that only cools half of the radiator (the side that's cooler anyway, no less). Would it really be that big of a deal to just switch on both fans at once? No that would make too much sense, let's just use a two speed single fan and maybe if we run it on high it will keep the temp in check in spite of the other half of the radiator that's getting baked by the turbo and yet seeing zero airflow. Yea but it keeps it nice and warm in the winter. Sweet, so while we're at it, making things warm and all, we'll throw the cool side water pump inlet pipe directly behind the turbo and under the manifold with zero heat shielding or coatings, that way all the coolant that got sort of cooled by the one radiator fan will get heated right back up before it even hits the motor.
And that's just a small portion of Mitsu's stupidity... don't even get me started on the DSM modding community... |
Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
Clean car but from the pictures DSM engine bays look like a clusterf*ck.
|
Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
im not a dsm fan(even though i have dsm450's, lol) but that thing is super clean. like stated before, those engine bays make baby jesus cry
|
Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
looking good, have you ran it yet?
|
Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
Ya the engine bay's can look rather busy. I actually have all the emissions removed so as far as vacuum lines go, I hardly have any which helps clean it up. But I also still have Cruise Control, Power Steering, A/C, I've kept all the creature comforts so that does mean there's still a lot of lines and what not ran throughout.
Steve, so when is the 1st bbq going to be? If it hasn't broken, then damn straight I'll bring it. But come late September, the car is going to be stored, and is getting a completely new turbo setup. Then cry baby here can shut up about my current manifold/turbo setup. It's all good though, bring the hate man ;D |
Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
What are you getting, a bolt on SBR cast manifold and a 16G? That would be SICK! Make sure you wastegate it off of only one runner to complete the classic DSM stupidity effect. ::)

Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
what'cha do to that thing?
your a motivator Brandon. O0 |
Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
That ---- is super clean. I love the tail lights. Cant waite to see the car whenever stevemode has a bbq.... And E85 ftw :y That ---- smells like moonshine strained through a dirty sock.

Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
I managed to walk away with 3rd place in the 1G category! Thanks for the comments so far. And ya I am loving E85. I remember having a thread on here about injectors, and a lot of people ---- talking the stuff. A lot of us have converted over to it, and it's proving to be an excellent option, especially for the cost.
http://www.scheides.com/albums/mitsu...2466.sized.jpg And the hate is appreciated as well :y If the only thing you have against my car is my bolt on turbo (not a 16g and I own nothing SBR), then maybe you can show some love when I put this on this winter, and hang either a BW S258 or S362 off it! I'm slowly acquiring the parts for the new setup, and so far I have the SLS T3 manifold, the Tial 44mm wastegate, and the 4" intake. Still need to purchase the turbo, and whatever flanges and extra exhaust piping I'll need to route my current downpipe up to the new turbo, and the WG dump. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...manifold_2.JPG |

Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
I've been through 2 2g's and one galant. I've had my share of them. I'm done with them (for now ugh).
That said, it certainly looks nice. |
Re: Got her cleaned up and snapped a couple pics
HOLY ----!!! THAT FD SAT IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR 6 MONTHS!!! The guy that bought it from my brother just emailed us the fotos of the finished product! Funny that it should end up posted on hmt.
I hated that car because I had to push it around the driveway anytime we got another mr2. :1 |

Just gotta hate to make sure you aren't another stupid cliche DSMer that swings from FP and MHI's collective nuts. Of course a DSM can be a pain to take care of, just like any other 15 year-old cars that have been beaten mercilessly with little to no maintenance. There is no denying that the 6 bolt is a great platform if taken care of and not manhandled by a 17 year-old who vents his bov on the stock maf and boosts 20psi on stock components. AWD+turbo is a wonderful thing and you're a retard to state otherwise. You are correct that Mitsu engineers smoked copious amounts of JDM crystal meth and made some dumb decisions with the inner workings of the components, but they created a gem with the 4G, and that too is correct. A properly maintained DSM that hasn't been duct taped and zip tied together is very fun indeed. Also, wtf is wrong with 16g's and bolt on 50 trims? |

You're a dumbass, plain and simple. The 4G63 is a work of hope-and-pray-nothing-breaks-while-under-warrenty art. It's strong and that's all it is. It isn't powerful, well designed, innovative, amazing, special, etc. It's just strong. And retards like yourself think that because you can throw 9230849021348-93201489202390418-321904j12390d48-9m-s92psi of boost into a stock motor, it must be the most amazing motor ever produced. The 6 bolt is also a shitty platform. It doesn't make power, the head doesn't flow for ----, the compression is too low, and at the end of the day it's still stuck in a garbage DSM. The 7 bolt is a marginal improvement, but then you run into that little crankwalk issue. |
