now, on to the BAD.....

well, to sum it up, we finished the install at about 4am in the morning, he had no intercooler as you can see in the above pics (scheduled for delivery the next day, but he couldn't wait :P ), running some stock fouled out plugs, non intercooled at 9 psi with 10.2:1 c/r, well, you know what comes next :'(

w00t w00t, ringland ownage beeotch!!!!!!!!! 3 out of 4 were trashed, but this one was the worst :D

head still looking very clean and fresh also, more than likely do a valve adjustment while it's apart also. see what changing your oil regularly does for your motor ;)

now, for the best part.. this happened last week and the weather started getting real nasty around here and we don't have a garage, so my buddy got impatient and took it to a local shop, they told him 1400 for a new bottom end installed, and he was about to do it :-X i told him to go get his ------- car right now! then i called my boy who had a spare built block, and he was willing to sell it, so here's the replacement killer, b16a1 short block w/ eagle rods & je 9:1 pistons, picked this up for 700 bucks for him ;D it will be going in this weekend along with intercooler that came the day after he blew it up :P and then to the dyno for some 300whp love :-*

well, that's pretty much the good and the bad, but what about teh 'pwnage' you may be asking, well, a little word of advice, don't fall asleep in my car port at 3am during an install unless you want to get owned on the interweb :-* this ones for you joe.........

yeah, i was thinking one of his injectors was clogged b/c the car was running like ass, it was after 4am, so i told him we'd ---- with it tomorrow, but when i woke up in the morning, he was gone, and he called me later that evening saying he blew his ---- up :-\ oh well, it turned out for the better. as far as the driving, i think that was his first time driving a boosted whip ;)

yeah, lap top works great, i installed xp on it b/c my willem wasn't liking win2k. i don't have my wideband yet, so i'm using whatever i can get my hands on from other and/or the local dyno.

So, you guys installed the setup and how long after did it blow up? Then you took the whole engine apart right after?

I still think your b16 was built on a Wednesday, cause that thing is a freak of nature. :)

Stan

he blew it up the day after we installed it, then i told him i'd order him some pistons, but he got impatient and took it up to the shop and they ripped the head off, then they told him 1400 bucks for a new bottom end, so i told him to go get that ---- and he put it on a roll back and brought it to my house. it was running like ---- and stumbling at idle. i used the same map that i was running in my b16 with teh same exact turbo kit (i sold it to him), so i know it wasn't the tune, he had issues with something else, but it was too late to mess with it any more, and he went beatin on it the next day :P oh well, it turned out for the best b/c now he has a semi built bottom end. hopefully we'll get to the dyno next week and get a little over 300 i hope, only thing holding him back will be the turbo and injectors.

oh, you say you hear it, so it must be ::) i'm sure it more than likely (positively) was detonating, but what i'm saying is, you can't hear it over the open dp ;) that's like saying you saw somebody shoot somebody just because you see a guy running with a gun, and a second later you see somebody stumbling with a gunshot wound to the chest, yeah, it's pretty obvious what happened, but you didn't see it. lol, i bet if i never posted pics of the blown ring lands and said it was running great, you wouldn't have heard any detonation in the video ::)

perhaps I"m hearing something else, but the last time I heard something like that was in the DSM video with the faggot kid and his bottom end exploded all over the road. Also, I thought he shifted into 3rd there, Almost like hes slowed up lots, pissible from a missing ring land or 2. I could be completely wrong. :-[

Nice pics of the install, looks like it was fun stacking parts on the sleeping guy :)

Shitty bout' the ringlands & pistons though. That thing shoulda held 9psi like a champ. How much timing up top? I always ran mine really conservative when I was still at stock compression. From the looks of the skirts it looks like he made a pull all the way through 4th atleast - random strike style lol :P no biggie though, just throw it a quick meatball hone and some new pistons.

I dont know if its just the pics, but that windage tray and head sure look dirty for a low mileage engine, sure the oil was changed frequently?
Sexy FMP, Beau started a trend haha

Nice little vid too, me likey :) Oh, and Spenser your smoking crack if you think you can hear it ping in the vid.

yeah, it's shitty, but look a couple pics down from the broke ring land pic, he bought a short block with eagles and je 9:1's for 700 bucks, so we're taking his short block out and slapping that in, then going straight to the dyno. i think what really did him in was the fact of no intercooler, stock fouled out plugs, and the kicker, still had 87 in the tank :P i didn't really make his timing maps as conservative as i should have, considering all of the above, but it was 4am and i just wasn't really thinking clearly:-\ i only pulled .75° per psi up top, which really isn't too agressive, but given the circumstances, i guess it was a little too much. oh well, i told him not to beat on it and we'd work the kinks out in the afternoon, but he did, so i don't feel too bad ;)
