You would have to do some configuration, but it's really easy and I'd walk you through it for free.

You can probably find the router for very damn cheap on ebay or a yardsale or some crap. WRT54G or WRT54GS will work. Good thing about using the router is that you can hook up to 4 things to it in your room and share the wireless connection. If the signal is poor you can either build ghetto "boosters" or buy the "high gain" antennas.

You could get the xbox wireless adaptor, but if you're far from the wireless router, you might not get a very good signal. At least on the router it's multipurpose, supports multiple things, and you can boost the signal fairly easily.

What about a wireless hub/switch? You really only need one router..

Could do that too, but a router is just about the same thing when you turn it into a bridge like Josher is suggesting.

Basically you need one router to send the info from the modem and after that you need something to pick that signal out of the air and send it to the PC and xbox. Another touter or a hub/switch, whatever is cheapest.

He said his modem is also a wireless router, so...

If he was far from the router and has a bad signal, or has more than one thing in the room he'd want online; I'd get a second router and use it as a bridge.

If he's close to the wireless modem/router, has nothing else in the room he'd want online, and could find an xbox wireless adapter cheaper than a router, I'd go with that.

He said he wanted to get it to his PC and xbox, and has a wireless router already. Best bet: WRT54G. Cheap, easy to find, multipurpose, easy to setup.

d112, buy a router and let me know when you get it. http://cgi.ebay.com/Linksys-WRT54G-W...QQcmdZViewItem <- it's at less than $30 right now.

With the wireless enabled, I can get wireless through my laptop all the way to the other end of my house. It's a bit slower, but not drastically.

I'm gona buy a wireless router because I also want internet on that other pc. I'll be bumping this thread up once I receive it so you can help me out, Jorsher.

Thanks guys.

Would that one be ok?

I'll only be getting one, since my current dsl modem has wireless capabilities.
