Re: fuck HT: any ideas for a VTEC switch?
if you unhook the vtec pressure switch then the comp wont turn on vtec
if you get a switch with 1 input and 2 outputs and feed 12v to the solenoid and 12v to the pressure swith input on the ecu that should swap your cams over and activate the fuel/ignition part of vtec as well you really should chip the ecu though actuall im not sure if the pressuer switch sends 12v to the ecu or just like 5v check first |
Re: fuck HT: any ideas for a VTEC switch?
i've been meaning to tune. im just broke as hell and its fine as a daily driver. just sucks whenever someone wants to race from a roll I can't show em much of a race. and i actually got to borrow a buddy of mine's VTEC controller last time I went to the track. managed to get a 14.7 out of 2 runs, and without it best i got was a 15.6 =\
how does VTEC engage? (i know how it works, duh) ECU signals the solenoid, then the solenoid signals the ECU for different map/timing? cuz then I would only need to switch the solenoid wire. why would i need to have another for the pressure switch? |
Re: fuck HT: any ideas for a VTEC switch?
The pressure switch is a safety feature. If there isn't enough oil pressure, the ECU won't command VTEC. The computer switches to it's different timing/fuel maps when it commands VTEC.

Re: fuck HT: any ideas for a VTEC switch?
vtec works like this
You hit the predetermined rpm ecu is like vtak bitch sends power to the vtec solenoid, while at the same time switching to the high cam fuel and ignition maps Given you have to be over 20 mph, coolant warmed up, and have sufficient oil pressure for all of this to happen. You do NOT want to activate vtec with a switch, because you will still be running the low cam fuel and ignition maps. |

Re: fuck HT: any ideas for a VTEC switch?
Because the maps are controlled by the ecu.
You can activate the vtec solenoid by bypassing the ecu, but to actually change the maps you have to chip the ecu. |
Re: fuck HT: any ideas for a VTEC switch?
dude what do tyou need a switch fo, just leave th vtecness on all the time its l get yoy more pover
|
Re: fuck HT: any ideas for a VTEC switch?
you should just hook it up to a tach's shiftlight.

<hmt tech>just chip your ecu :P</hmt tech>
