as long as it allows to you live above the poverty line , it is doing what it was designed to do

what are you smoking? when I first started working a year ago it was $7.26. its supposed to raise again in Dec. everyone at my store gets a .20 raise because of it and our union.

started 7.26, raised to 7.45, then again to 7.65 (current)

but yea, minimum wage is based on the economy. the cost of living in arizona compared to WA is lower, but the minimum wage is also lower

minimum wage is also based on the cost of living,

ct has the highest cost of living in the united states. our minimum wage is 7.40

The federal minimum wage is currently $5.15 per hour

you may have an argument with the federal minimum,.

the thing is , although all of us see a car as a necessity, it is really a privilage.
if you cant afford gas/repair/insurance, you should and probably wont own one.

chances are the job you are working for minimum wage is not far from your house as its prob some sort of gas station, fast food joint ect.

factor out a car and the price of gas/insurance, and add a one time cost of lets say 200 for a descent bicycle.

your minimum wage just became awhole lot more livable.

OHIOS MINIMUM WAGE IS LOWER THAN FEDERAL, SO ITS BASELINES OFF FEDERAL AND THATS WHAT WE GET
the bycycle is not a viable idea, since there is so much spraw in ohio you would need to live about 20 miles from any work place if you wanted to live in the low income housing.

I don't think that just because the job is out there, that we should be able to afford living by working at it.

I want to work at Vato-Zone and support my family. That is just a bad idea. So because I can't get a higher paying job, it is the responsibility of the govt to make my shitty job pay more

If you can't afford to live on the salary you are making, then get other work.

Bottom line is this. It is not the responsibility of the govt to take care of you, or it shouldn't be. The govt should only be around to be sure we are not killing eachother or stealing property. Beyond that, charity should take care of things.
