I agree that nuclear energy is the best solution but since you have the tree huggers and other morons that run and hide at the mention of "terror" and "nuclear" in the same sentence, that tends to hinder progress, even though reactors are ------- pretty much impenetrable (spell?)
Tman, where did that math come from? It makes no sense how you can equate mpg to mile range. The only way to get an accurate assessment if its economically worth using an electric car is to figure out how much the electricity costs to give the battery a full charge and then compare it to what a similar gasoline powered car would do. |

you can quote me on that. A gmc pickup is where they will make there money not a hippie car. Im surprised gm even started a program to develop it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_EV1 |

Re: electric cars what do u guys think?
I would just buy because their light weight.
I'd slap a nice motor in one of those 1000lbs cars. Anyway honda has been testing water powered cars. You would never really run out of water. There was a guy that traveled from the east coast to the west coast on 17 gallons of water.Home made car 2 seater. Then someone killed him.... So there will never be free non polluting energy, as long as the controllers of the U.S. energy can make money off of it. |

Look at countries like France who use nuclear power as it's primary source. It's very clean and efficient. The biggest issue in the last 6 years has been the fact that there are "safety issues" with nuclear power plants. Recently reports have come out that nuclear power plants are safer than most government buildings, but still people are uneasy about nuclear power and terrorism.
I wouldn't mind an electric car at all... Unfortunately it's not a viable solution for a primary car because i am prone to random road trips, and drive 90-120 miles every day. |

As for nuclear, I doubt that small percentage of morons and tree huggers keep stuff from getting done. End result is someone doesn't think it is in their best interest on a higher level. The past has shown that if big business wants to accomplish something, it takes a good bit of effort against their effort to succeed. Morons and tree huggers definitely don't fit the bill.

The only way to get an accurate assessment if its economically worth using an electric car is to figure out how much the electricity costs to give the battery a full charge and then compare it to what a similar gasoline powered car would do. http://www.phoenixmotorcars.com/ it's a 40k electric truck thats going to be available this year I think, (dont quote me on this yet i will repost when i find the page) the millage calculation comes from avg ICE car's efficiency/cost of gasoline gives you the miles per dollar compared to miles per charge of electric car/cost per charge from the grid Electric motors are much more efficient than gasoline because a lot of the energy from ICE's is released as heat, electric motors waste less energy in the form of heat, they are also much more efficient in low speed drive and go traffic, and acceleration from a stop as opposed to ICE's that's why all your hybrid cars use the electric motors for low speed and switch to gasoline at higher speeds heres an Electric Vehicle from 10 years ago that shows the efficency compared to gasoline http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/17328.shtml compare that to the current rav4 and about the pollution I also read somewhere, I'll look for exactly were that electric cars pollute 97% less than ICE cars including the pollution at the power plant the thing i like the most about EV's is that you can charge it anywhere with an extension cord, also you get total control over what you use to power your car, wind power has been getting cheaper the last few years |

The Simpsons quote: "Hello, i'm an electric car. I don't drive very fast or go very far. And if you drive me, people will think you're GAAAY." ;D :y
