Which direction do you point your subwoofers?

Re: Which direction do you point your subwoofers?
I had a Power Acoustik 10" in the CRX before, the box took up the little part where the fold down part is. I pointed mine towards the back cause that's what my brother told me to do, it sounded great. The box fell over and pointed upwards once and it didnt sound as good anymore.

Ok, I have a weird setup...89 civic hatch with a custom setup I made...2 alpine type-r 10's, 1 facing up firing towards the inside of the box and 1 facing back also firing towards the inside of the box. The box is 1.65 cubic ft (sounds rather small for 2 10's doesn't it ) with a slot port tuned to 43hz. Power is supplied by a crossfire 600w rms amp with a 45hz 12db boost. Just finished it up yesterday for a local car show that I'm going to this weekend, and the shop test mic'd out at 141db...not too shabby for 2 10's and semi-low wattage. This setup was pretty much built with rock music in mind, and even double-bass pedal sounds tight and crisp...there's no sloppiness at all in the sound. Combining that with my Rockford Fosgate Power series 6.5"s (4 total, 2 front 2 back) and my Infinity Perfect tweeters with an Infinity crossover and powered by an Orion 5 channel (500w rms), this thing sounds awesome Set off quite a few car alarms in the walmart parking lot earlier with the new Breaking Benjamin cd someone was so kind to post up

in my Crx I have 2 16,000 watt 18"s and they face up only because its the only way I could fit them.
I hade one of them in my old accord hatchback facing rear and it fucken slammed.
normaly 99% rear is better but it all depends on everything

i had some subs and an amp sitting in my room since i was 16. Id like to put one of the 10's in the golf in a real covert spot if i could run it off the factory stereo. I've never used one of those low pass filters though.

mine are down fire but I think you will find the best sound facing rear, dont forget noise travels in waves if you too close or too far from a subs high or low wave form it will change its sound( yes I suck hard core at explaining ----) but you should find a small car facing rear for 10's or 12's will be best.

I running the Quarts up front. I would really lik to add a single 10 or 8 to give it some low end and complete the sound.
When I was 17 I had 2 12W3s in a sealed box in the back of the Camaro pointing up(only way they really fit). It sounded great and hit really well.

Re: Which direction do you point your subwoofers?
Waaaay back in the day I had crammed two 15in cerwin vega strokers into a poor 1990 honda prelude si. I had to point them up because the box I built only fit 1 way, and the box + subs + autotek mx5000 surfboard sized amp weighted 120lbs so moving it arround was a bitch.
