Re:diff between vtec and non for fi

Not sure on B engines but with most of the D series the non-VTEC engines DO have thinner/weaker rods such as comparing a D15B7/8(both non-VTEC)to a D16Z6/ZC/D15B(VTEC) etc. Theres also those that will say its easier to tune a non-VTEC motor blah blah but IMHO thats just laziness lol! I have no problem tuning my VTEC engine. It's dyno time that makes it easier to tune VTEC crossover and engaugement(SP?) points :) But overall tunability is really no concern for the daily drivin street car. Yes, a full blown drag car is usualy a non-VTEC setup due to the radical cams you an get or have made. There is no reason to have an economical ride at the strip. Which is partialy why Honda makes VTEC in the first place. Performance AND economy.

you have a boosted non vtec 4 door? do you mind me asking your setup because i have a 4 door non-vtec that i was thinkin about swappin in a vtec motor just to boost , what internal mods do you have and what set-up are you running , what management are you running

people say that vtec doesn't like boost very much? because honda designed vtec to replace forced induction? Which is why honda has never made a boosted car?

B18 LS rod's are a bit weaker then the B16 and other B-serie Vtec rod's...D15 rod's are the weakest Rod's...D15 vtec rod is a bit stronger and all D16 rod's are the same in strenght...maybe the older ZC rod's are a bit stronger,,,they are a bit bigger though.

Any gain in flow from a vtec engagement is an advantage while going turbo what you have to be concerned with as far as a cam grind is the valve overlap. too much valve overlap on a forced inducted motor will hurt performance
