civic coupe built for highspeed racing

Re:civic coupe built for highspeed racing
My 95 civic coupe is a high speed racer... I went 115 mph in it last night. I think that was about all she had though unless I am going down a big hill or get a turbo installed. It's pretty scary going that fast with stock suspension.

Re:civic coupe built for highspeed racing
Don't want to be an ***, but 115 mph is not fast, really. I've gone faster in a lumina van when I was 16 and dumb.
As for the 'racing car' argument. The civic is an economy car, my del sol is a topless econo car, the integra/lude/accord coupe is wanna be sports car. The s2000 is getting closer, but the NSX is sure as hell a sports car/super car.
-Sports car are either front or mid engine platform RWD.
-AWD cars lose at higer speeds because of small losses from the extra diffs. The only exception to this are cars like the skyline which have special electronic controls that make the diff dissappear theoretically from the drivetrain.
-Physics will not allow a FWD car to be a sports car.
jap sports cars sold in the americas
-Supra TT (or an older single turbo)
-NSX
-almost any Z
-RX7 turbo

Re:civic coupe built for highspeed racing
if you stichweld the frame, install a cage the right way, and do good coilovers, and lots of other bracing like sway bars, etc it can be done. then you gotta worry about drive train/engine/trans/brakes if you wanna actually make it fast.
hondas are not cheap to make fast they just require a smaller initial investment than other cars.

I'm not to sure if the nsx is a super car but writers think it is. Plus it does go over 300 km/h stock and has more technology in it than the entire honda lineup.
Plus 13 second 1/4 times are respectable with only 290hp
In my mind I guess it's sitting on the fence

Re:civic coupe built for highspeed racing
you can do a lot to tell urself ur car is a sports car or model a real sports car, but with a fwd honda ur just never going to get it in the same form as a true factory sports car. I have a crx which is built to ---- and i love it to death, but its by no means a true sports car
To elaborate... when u buy a sports car out of the factory you get the luxury of it being a sports car that lets u take off at a light without skidding out(which seems to happen in civics even unintentionally,(you also get to use ur ac.. sports suspension. rwd... convertible, power steering and all the other goodies... without worries and everyone on the outside knows that ur driving a sports car.
And just for anyone arguing against me, go take a ride in a new 350z or even for aguments sake a 1991 300zx tt for even time periods sake, and tell me when u find an equivalent fwd honda crx... its every aspect not just speed... with reliability, luxury and rwd
