FWD makes for pretty good racing IMO. The technique is way different than in a rear driver. If you guys ever get a chance to get out to a club race to watch sometime like SCCA, NASA, or Conference here in the NW, just try to keep track of how many FWD cars there are as compared to RWD cars. A lot of these cars compete in the same classes with each other. Here in the NW, we have RX7's (1st gen) running against Civics and Integras using power/weight ratio formulas, and the FWD cars typically dominate, sometimes not. It depends on a lot of factors.

If you live near Portland OR, come out to PIR on 9/20-9/21. We will be racing there, and at lunch time we will be selling rides in our racecars to help the local Childrens Hospital. I am sure you will have a blast if you do.

Funny you should mention that, there is a school put on the day before the races on the 19th. You can get some good track time in for about $200. Check out http://www.cascadescc.com, they are hosting all of it. Jeff and I went to some schools last year together, it is some serious fun.

i see things in this topic talking about the frame and switching the frame of a civic/crx...... it's just a shame they are UNIBODY. C'mon I figured someone would have got that already. Slippin. But yeah, I agree that the ride, luxary, reliability, and sometimes price of a true from factory sports car are unmatched. Cages and structural supports like cross braceing definately help rigidity of any honda. Weight, in addition to suspension, plays a nice part in the whole equasion. S2k not a sports car, yeah right, with the highest hp per liter output of any production motor ever made (167) anyone who doesn't think it a s.c. needs to drive one. power/weight ratio, that's somethin that definately doesn't get the attention it deserves. 300hp in a 2000lb car, or 3500lb car..... huuummm let me think about that
