Can't believe i found my stolen kit on a local forum!!!

My car has been stolen in septembre 2005... eg turbo hatch... d16z6 setup.

But yesterday i look on a local forum and i see what it seem to be my turbo kit so i ask the dude if he has any pics he said no, but i told him i was very interested in the kit so i ask him if i can come to see it. So i drive to his house tonight, and ----, this is so my kit, everything is there except oilpan and the ecu. I ask him a couple of question but not too many to be suspicious...

Me: was the kit on your car?
him: no, i did not have time to install it, and i crashed my car recently
Me: So you bought it from someone?
Him: eeh... yeah i bought it from that guy that live 15min from here
Me: so he was running this on a d16z6 right?
him: yeah

So he is asking 400$cnd for the whole thing, turbo seem to have big shaft play now (its been 1.5 year since the car has been stolen...)

I'm freaked out! I don't really know what to do... i did call the cops, to reopen the case on the stolen car, i'd like to do it the right way but if it doesn't get trough i will get there with a couple of big friend and ask him if he is legit and where he bought the kit from or else ask him to give me back what he stole from me

Yeah... i got a couple of big friend (and a couple of doorman like you said!) and lot lot of people on the local forum that are willing to come help me...
I know cops will likely do ----... but if the young punk has other stolen part (because he is selling a lot of prelude, integra and civic parts...) he might get caught easier.
When i check his previous post... it's just parts for sale, he is not active in discussion... he only register on forum to sell. That sound really suspicious.

...you are right, i haven't been here in a while, i bought a crx... which was a total POS lost 2 grand there... so i bought a cb7 coupe. And turboed it, it was awesome until a spun a main bearing... so i swap the stock f22a6 to a f22b and sold the turbo kit. I still have this car but it is in storage. Right now i'm driving a stock 92 vx. And i'm building, "don't laught at me" a N/A d16z6

d16z6 block
d16z6 head with homemade porting
d16z6 intake with homemade porting
gsr Throttle body
zex 59300 camshaft

crespo spring and retainer
Edelbrock header with the 2.5" mod collector
2.5" exhaust line, along with a 18" long magnaflow resonator (2.5") and a cheap 2.5" twin loop
si tranny (trying to find zc dohc 3rd and 4th gear)

The cops won't do ----, they are useless. Just get a bunch of big dudes and pressure this kid to tell you where he bought it from, then take him with you when you go see that guy, etc... Round up all these fuckers until you get to the guy that took it, then beat his ass and tell these other guys to stop buying stolen ---- or they will get fucked up too.

Re: Can't believe i found my stolen kit on a local forum!!!

If you dont need you kit for a while, you may call les boeufs because they'll probably confiscate the whole stuff until the guy has been sentenced.

As what he'll get as a punishment, it won't worth the ---- you've been through getting you car stolen.

But...

The guy will probably wet his pants if the cops get involve and give some names, therefore bringing down with him other ----------ers.

You have the choice,

A)Going the Far West Clint Eastwood way and beat the crap out of him -immediate acute damage-, but then you may get into problems yourself.
B)Going the "normal" way, getting the cops involved and everything -less hurtful for him, less instantaneous satisfaction for you- but what he did mightl follow him a while in a criminal record.

It is up to you... Sorry you got your car stolen, act quick before he sell probably to another guy if you go with the cop solution.

Re: Can't believe i found my stolen kit on a local forum!!!

I'd talk directly to a detective, mountie, wtfever you guys have up there, and discreetly see exactly how interested the police are in doing their job. If you get the brush off, go bust some ------- heads. If the police are interested, explain how performance turbos are wear items and get BLAAST to give you a quote on something hideously expensive and try to make the douchelord thief buy you a minty fresh turbo. :)

Good luck... you may not have found the thief - yet! - but you've definitely found a local fence. These guys are local to you, you all know each other to some extent, more than one person along the way has known this was your kit. Play things fast and close for right now, but as soon as you've found out everything you can then go make a post on your local forum. It'll embarrass the local reseller (if he didn't steal it, or intentionally buy a stolen setup) into paying closer attention to what passes through his hands.

I have two local guys who deal in *anything* they can resell, one is an out and out fence and the other has found out twice he purchased (and resold) stolen items and hunted down the original owners to make things right with them. It's nice to know that decent people exist.

Be sure to clay that motor. Mista Bone told me horror stories about that 59300 cam with P29/PM7 pistons, something about when vtec engages how it will eat all 8 of the intake valves.

I completely agree w/JD. See what chance you have w/the police helping you first. Otherwise make this happen quick.

If you do call the guy out online, make sure you post his address and pics of his house :)

I would make sure you get your parts back in your possession ASAP before he either sells it to someone else or gets nervous and decides not to sell to you. Just show up with friends and DO NOT kick his ass, although it may be hard not to, you want to do this LEGALLY. Either way, go get your parts from him ASAP and get whatever info he has.

Tell him you want to come buy the kit.
Show up with "bigboy"
Show him pictures of the ---- on your car, and tell him you're taking the ---- back
Take kit and put it in your car.

(If he DID buy it from the actual thief)
Follow above directions
Tell him you and "bigboy" are willing to help get his money back from the real thief.
All 3 of you go wherever he says he bought the stuff.
Threaten thief if he doesn't pay the money back right now.
If he pays, beat him senseless.
If he doesn't pay, beat him senseless x10

Re: Can't believe i found my stolen kit on a local forum!!!

The only point would be is to open up your stolen car. The parts dont have a serial # so its your word vs his and if the cops are anything like they are here they will tell you sorry. Your car may still be somewhere but in reality if it was done right was cut into pieces and crushed.

Best bet is email the guy say your buying it. Dont take the kit from the kid require he tells you who he got it from. Your trying to find your car and put a tool in prison I think the kit is almost a lost cause but maybe able to get it after you find who stole your car has the kid who owns the kit will ---- a brick if he knows he has stolen goods. take pics and bring a taper recorder with you to record conversations.

Re: Can't believe i found my stolen kit on a local forum!!!

Chris, my method finds the car, gets the turbo kit, and gets a thief a foot in his ass. I didn't mention finding the car in my method, but it's a simple "repeat step 1 agian, again, again". :P

Re: Can't believe i found my stolen kit on a local forum!!!

He told me he would call me if someone else would buy the kit... i have priority...
so the kit is almost complete... missing both gauge, ecu and oilpan...

so i sent him an email telling him i need to contact the guys he bought the kit from, because i'd like to exchange my virgin oilpan with the modified one...

and tomorrow i'm expecting a call from the cops. I'll give you some news later.

That guy might just be saying that ---- because just in case the owner of the parts shows up he can pass the buck on some random person. It is still receiving stolen property though.

Possession is 7 10ths of the law. Or some ---- like that. Anyone can say "I didnt know it was stolen". If you did that would the cops say, "well your lucky you didnt know, or else I would have taken you to jail if you did".. ??

The guys in possession of stolen property.

not true, it may be depending on your states law but in order to be charged for receiving/being in possession of stolen property one must know it was stolen before purchasing or obtaining that item.

California Penal Code Section 496 states, in pertinent part:

"Every person who buys or receives any property that has been stolen or that has been obtained in any manner constituting theft or extortion, knowing the property to be so stolen or obtained, or who conceals, sells, withholds, or aids in concealing, selling, or withholding any property from the owner, knowing the property to be so stolen or obtained, shall be punished by imprisonment in a state prison, or in a county jail for not more than one year."

I'm more worried about labatt getting in trouble than anyone getting caught. He's always seemed plenty levelheaded, even with me throwing a continual barrage of Frenchie comments at him, but having your car stolen twists a man inside.

Don't do anything extreme, bro, unless you are damn sure you can get away with it.

America is not, nor has it ever at any time been, a democracy. We are a ----------ing republic.

FYI, our judicial system works fine, bro. OJ proved this. It is possible for any man in America, regardless of skin color, to buy justice in this country. It's a great era to be alive in, IMO.
