Buying a 96 Ranger. Chime in.

Gonna pick up a 96 Ranger tomorrow, 4 cyl 5 spd.

Anything known issues im in for ? Im not too worried since im a tech, but I dont have MUCH experience with fords.

It will be the DD and will tow the race car.

It will probably be boosted in a year or so. Lol.

I've seen those trucks go for a loooooong time with only minimal problems. Great on gas, and a truck is always a plus to have...

Yea this one looks exceptionally good. 150k, clutch is still decent, t-belt and w/p recently replaced.

And not an ounce of RUST.

He says he gets 27mpg, but its mostly highway.

Stupid reliable with the 2.3's. Don't have the power to break anything.

NO power. Towing with one is an exercise in frustration.

This from experience with a 92 2.3 5spd.

100hp compared to 112 for the 96.
The extended cab longbed one my dad had weighed a couple hundred pounds short of 4000. It has 260k+ on it, with nearly no maintenance problems.

My daily is a 97, extremely reliable I get low to mid 20's around town and about 30 on the highway if I go around 70mph, I'm a ford tech and these trucks pretty much have no big problems with the 4cyl engine. Only thing that comes to mind in is the slave cylinder, not very much power though they are stupid slow. My'n is a 97 and has been modded primarly just appearance wise, would look alot better if I didn't have mexi lookin center lines on it, here is a picture.
