building muscle

hey hotrex and other guys with big muscles, what's the fastest/best way to bulk up without using roids? should I work out every day, or every other day, or work out every day for a week then take a few days off? also, what's the best ---- to take besides roids?

Ravage70 12-19-2004 02:01 AM

Re:building muscle

at least 2 grams of protein per pound that u weight a day
3 days a week is a good start
u can do more as ur body gets used to the strain

if u stay el natural, take a multivitamin daily and eat 5-6 meals a day

protein shakes are the only thing that will really do anything so dont waste ur cash on stupidities

Re:building muscle

When I started I went to the gym Mon-Fri and ate like a horse. I took alot of protein shakes, vitamins, very little creatine, Cell-Tech, and some other crazy pills. I ate huge steak dinners every night followed by a half galon of ice cream and a protein shake. I was a skinny bastard and smoked a pack of cigarettes a day before I started. I quit smoking at the same time. I gained 30 pounds in a little over a month. I gained another 20 pounds the next month. I got stretch marks in my arm pits/pecks from growing so fast. After a year of that it got tiring and was hard to drag my lazy ass into the gym. Then I met this girl and she runined me. I started smoking again and stopped going to the gym. I didn't lose much weight, just muscle. Oh well......

Yeah, I went from 118 to 178 in about 3 months. The first month was the biggest gain. I was kinda scared to keep going at that rate. :o

Kyle, without the roids you're helpless. I've seen your scrawning frame, and uh, you're hopeless.
If anything, you can get yourself lean and cut, but why the bulk? Bulk is how people ---- themselves up. And for what?

whey protein is real good. it has tons of protein but it won't make you fat cause it's low in carbs. creatine works good too.

Re:building muscle

tuna, chicken, lean cuts of meat, nuts, egg whites omlets with ham for breakfast, and some protein shakes is all you need.Eat that and work out youll be good to go.

Re:building muscle

you need tons of protien but a low carb diet does not work if you want to gain muscle. Like hotrex said you need balance, I think your diet is as important as your wieght training. You need lots of rest too, or you wont heal just burn out. Dont forget the greens to, lettic in your big mac wont cut it ;)

Re:building muscle

First of all pick a weight goal, either the weight you intend to lift or the actual weight you want to be. Don't over do one particular lifting posisiont ( like benchpress) or you'll end up having bar-body muscles; a barbody is most of the twenty-something guys you see in a bar who have huge packs and biceps but have soft baby stomachs and weak backs/triceps. These are usually the guys who pick a fight with the "scrawnier" guys in the in the bar and end up getting their ass handed to them because they have never practiced their swing and somehow expect their muscle to save them through intimidation. It doesn't work that way.

I knew of these two idiots i hung out with from highschool who used to get pleasure from kicking some poor guys ass at a bar. They'd just keep at the guy all night until he finally wanted to fight then they would double team him. One night I was at this bar and I saw them picking on a guy that was about as skinny as I am (5'11" 150lb) andhe was about 5'7". Aparently the little guy was doing well with the ladies so these jackasses decided to pound him (both are atleast 6 foot around 170-180). They take him outside and one of them rips off this guys shirt. Turns out he was ------- ripped. NOT SWOLE but RIPPED. as in every one of his muscles was not only well proportioned but veeery well toned. Turns out also that the guy was a national fighting contender in various forms of organized fighting. In about i'd say 15 seconds he had on in a headlock screaming wtf and the otherone was on the ground with the guy's foot on his throat.

I can only imagine the copius amounts of ----- that guy got that night. Women like a guy that can handle himself, not one that "looks" like he can handle himself.

DRINK A GLASS OF MILK AFTER YOUR WORKOUT. it neutralizes the acid in your muscles after a workout, speeds the healing time.

I'm really sick of seeing guys strut into the bar like everyone has never seen such an amazing figure. If you ever get close enough check out the guys hands, no broken fingers, well manicured, he's a baby. Most probably has never had his nose broke.

Do a full body workout. Start small with high reps then gradually decrease reps as weight increases then slowly increase reps as you handle youre weight goal.

For god's sake do some aerobic workout, it's as simple as jogging around the block for 15 minutes.

buy a punching bag and some THIN gloves, work on your body shots and your JABS. (hint: wide arching swings are NOT going to land on the guy unless he's stone drunk and retarded.) Anybody can dodge a hook unless you're trained to throw them, which you're not so don't kid yourself there rocky. Jabs are straight on, there's little to no dodging that can be done if your quick, and chances are you're going to break the guy's nose which 8 times out of 10 stops the fight cold and makes the guy look like he's crying.
and the way these guys bow up makes them prime candidates for a sucker punch.

The funny thing about these guys being so big and training for mass is that they're ridiculously slow. They have to balance their weight the whole time because their trunk isn't up to snuff with their upper body and usually their legs are non existant.

Do lots of pushups.

do twisting crunches and a few situps with a weight on your chest( like 10-20lbs).

pull ups if you can find a spot to do them.

SQUATS, oro christ's sake your legs will be WAY stronger than your arms if you just spend time on them, think about it, you're struggling to curl that bar but your still standing right? exactly.

ROW's, either bent rows or a rowing machine. pushing forward is only on part of throwing a punch, most of the power comes from the pulling of your back and legs. Think about swinging a baseball bat.

don't work on your neck muscles, it looks fake and retarded. people with downsyndrome have thick necks. Boxers have thick necks cause they USE those muscles on a frequent basis by training and throwing punches. don't be that guy.

eat sardines, their good for you.
eat peanutbutter, it's like condensed protien.
always eat your sugar with protien and vice versa to promote a balanced endochrine system. eating a snickers? then spring for a slimjim while your at it.

the more you use your FEET and legs, the more likely you are to seriously stop that hulking bohemoth one the other side of the bar. Besides the fact that your gait (stride) changes for the batter and you have a healthier (and sexier) look when walking. Women like your butt more than your biceps, it's a fact, ask them.

FOR GOD'S SAKE DON'T TAKE STEROIDS. it DOES shrink your penis and balls, it's proven medically. The last girl i was with joked about her ex-boyfriend's small dick and how hilarious it was to see this muscle bound guy standing over her with half a handful. Besides, sex is the real reason you're doing this, don't fool yourself; accept it in fact, it's help you later when you have big muscles AND the dick to back it up... haha jesus that's funny....

Exactly... if you don't have a well balanced diet (protein/carbs/fat) you might as well not workout. Don't be scared of carbs or fatty foods either, your muscles and body need these for enegry and to survive, just eat the good kind in proper proportions. Drink lots of water and take a mutli vitamin. You also need at least 8-10 hours of sleep a night so your muscles can grow and recoperate. Your meal after you workout is the most important meal of the day, I always take a protein shake with milk right after I workout, usually with oatmeal in it too for the carbs. Set some realistic goals also and don't expect to see gains over night, you probably won't notice anything for a few months, just stick with it. You don't need to workout everyday either, a split routine would be ideal, and make sure to lift hard.

Example...

Monday: Chest & Biceps
Tuesday: Legs
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: Shoulders $ Triceps
Friday: Back & Calves
Saturday: Rest
Sunday: Rest

Too many things to say, your best bet is to read and learn... www.bodybuilding.com

most people gave you all the info you need. All I have to say is the biggest thing you need to worry about is eating and sleeping. Thats the hardest part imo. Working out is the easy part(but also make sure you work out right too follow your program if you have any) And yes not everyone is going to get fast real quick if you do it naturally. It all about genetics too. It took me 3 years to get to the size i want to be but I do want to get bigger. I'm thinking about becoming a bodybuilder someday like my father or a boxer :)

and eat lots of protein and carbs. the only supplements you have to have is whey protein for after work outs and a couple multi vitamins a day.
Thats standard advice.

I used to buy these big bags of boneless, skinless chicken breasts. I'd make a little tin foil bowl, pour some lemon juice in it, butter, pepper, and throw it on the grill for a few minutes. That ---- was good.

I'm following: http://www.wannabebig.com/article.php?articleid=25 you're bigger than me right now, but we'll go for percentages. let's officially start this ---- tomarrow 12-20-04. we'll say I weigh 165 right now, that's pretty close to exact, it varies though. on 1-20-05 we'll see who's progressed more.

Re:building muscle

Eat a lot and just lift. Don't do too many reps, your muscles will get use to it and wont work as hard after. Or work different parts of your body for each day. Just lift heavier and EAT lots of protein, Chicken, stuff like that. Worked for me.

Re:building muscle

anybody have a multivitamin they can recomend? training started yesterday, I'm following the routine from the link above, I worked chest and back yesterday, I've never worked out my back muscles before, it was fun. today I ate all damn day at work, it's nice working at a restaraunt, too bad I quit and I only have one day left, I should have been eating chicken and shimp the whole time. shrimp is crazy rich in protein, for 3 oz of shrimp there are 19g of protein and 1g of fat, I got that from the shrimp bag.

90turbohatch 12-22-2004 12:28 AM

Re:building muscle

Many good things were said. Diet is very important (lots of protein and not too many carbs if you are trying to get cut). Also try to use good lifting techniques. Don't just swing the weights around. Lift them and don't rely on momentem. Focus on the muscles when you are lifting. Rest and sleep are so important for me. I used to lift alot more often(like every day). Now I go to the gym 2-3 days per week with much better gains. You need to let your muscles recover and rebuild. I've noticed much better gains just by sleeping more. 3-6 hours of sleep doesn't cut it. Now I get at least 9 hours sleep and I'm getting stronger, bigger, and more cut much faster.
Good luck.
