A closed loop boost controller is like everything I ever wanted. haha.

My old Profec had two settings, but with the temp/boost changes they were usually labeled "day and night" rather than "low and high".

So this will actually target a specified boost pressure during the daytime, nighttime, and on Christmas day??? I'm gonna have to look into this.

Correct, The boost controllers goal is to find a specific PSI. So if you set it to 12 psi, it will find 12 psi in the day and at night as long as it tuned properly.... oh yea and even on christmas day it will find 12 psi. You have just perfectly described the flaw of open loop control systems.

Oh damn, I want one.

Next question, how hard is it going to be to "tune" ?

Damn, looks good man.

So, this thing can be set via a serial port AND some spiffy knobs? I would be interested in a smaller unit if I could do everything via the serial port.

Thats pretty badass.

I always wondered how people ran low and high boost setups, do they just tune for the max amount of boost they're going to run and then run less? Or is there something I'm missing.

its very easy to tune, you have to realise two goals. one is simple, your psi goal and two the lowest pwm.. which you have to figure out. its probably going to be in the range of 5-20 for many and 13-15 range is where most cars will land. You can found out the lowest pwm goal by doing downshifts and checking to make sure you hit your goal psi. if not then lower the 'lowest pwm'. If you dont do much downshifting then set the lowest range to 13 and call it a day.

in overboost control there are two options, dynamic control or static control. dynamic control will allow you to set the amount of psi over your current goal psi. So you can set your overboost to 2 psi and your goal 15psi then your car will shut down boost if it boost reachest 17psi. Now with static psi you can set it to the exact psi you want. So for static overboost psi will be same for both high and low boost.

With those two ideas you can create a really good tune without doing much work at all. Now the advanced options are a little more difficult to understand, but will be documented in the manual.

Does that sound easy? Way into the future, maybe winter, I plan on creating software that will run on your laptop and tune the boost controller automatically. But since its so easy to tune right now, i'm not going to write it right now.

Damn Nick, your not as dumb as I thought you was. Good job dude. I might have to start being nicer to you now.... But I most likely wont. :D

Now the fun stuff. find a way to get dual boost to auto switch with a selected gear say 3rd gear? Low boost through 1-2, 3rd gear BAM she goes to the high boost setting. Now I would be all over this thing :P

I'm sure you could get some type of switch to toggle low/high boost. Either that, or find a way to incorporate some type of function where speed is a variable?
