Fluid shoudn't leak out when you take out the axles.

Re:axle problem

Fluid will leak out if one of the axels is removed FYI. The axels are inserted into the differential, the diff is ssoaked in tranny fluid! There are seals that are black that sit in the tranny right where the axels are inserted! These keep the fluid in the tranny. Upon removing a axel from a transmition, especially if the front is jacked up and the rear isn't, and there is nothing that come out then you tranny was almost (empty) of tranny fluid! This is a fact!

I know on crx cable tranny's, you only have to drain teh tranny oil when taking the DRIVERS side axle out, not the passenger side.

I've changed a bunch of axles in my rex and never have had fluid leak out. I know there is fluid in there too.

No there was no fluid leaking from the tranny. The tranny doesn't grind either. Do I need to put more fluid in the tranny?

no, but if you haven't changed the tranny fluid in a while, taht would have been a perfect time to do it, or just do it now.

the tranny fluid is exposed to the end of the axle? it seems like it would leak out all the time if that was the case seeing as how there is no seal/gasket on the end of the axle ???

there is a seal, on both sides of the trans. maybe you guys had the car jacked up so high in the front that it didnt leak, i dont know. i know if i dont drain mine first, it leaks when i pull the axle.

Re:axle problem

it depends on how you have the car jacked up, sometimes it will leak out, sometimes it won't
