Oh and good luck getting those damsels out withthat much live rock. It won't happen unless you take all the live rock out. They are the ------- devil. I gated mine so bad. I flushed him and a condylactus anemone down the drain just for pissing me off.

Busted out my girls birthday present a little early to test it out. Bought her a nikkon L16 for her birthday, but i gotta play with it first lol.

Full tank shot. I built the canopy myself.

My clown fish George (hor-hay) and Oscar. I just put that powerhead in the tank this morning. It got adjusteable flow from 110-220 gph flow and a rotating head on it, pretty cool.

Coral Beauty Angel. Pretty cool fish, but i don't know if it was worth $40.

That huge peice of coral skeloton weighs in at 9 pounds. Its just base rock right now, but it should get going pretty soon. I got it for free, but the guy i got it from paid $120 for just that one rock.

You flushed an anemone? How hard are those to catch when they just sit around?

Anywho, I've always been interested in a saltwater aquarium, but goddamn it seems like an expensive pain in the ass. How much time/money do you all spend on this ----?

yeah he was dying anyways and when an anemone dies it has the chance of nuking your whole tank if you dont catch it quick enough so i jus dealt with it. i have been keeping track of how much i spent on this, and its right at 1500 and nowhere near done yet. its expensive.

What is maintenance like on this? Gotta check the water daily? How often ya gotta clean the tank? (I'm sure it depends on how much you spend on equipment/filters) Seems like too much work to make it worthwhile, like pools, but still cool.

Actually maintanance isnt that bad. Water change once a month, and whenever i feel like it i clean the glass with a mag float cleaner. The crabs and snails do most of the cleaning for me. There is no gravel vaccuuming so pretty much just replace the filter cartridges and your good to go. And i test my water about once a week or so, and the only thing that ever changes is the nitrate, and thats what you do water changes for. Also, i don't know if you can see it, but behind the big white rock is a bunch of green grass like stuff. Its called cheato. I have some in the tank and some in the small filter on the left side, it also eats nitrate, making it much easier on me. The only hard part is doing water changes, and really its not that hard except you have to keep buying salt.

Ideas as in starting a max of 200 gal tank from a 55gal. But I went to the store today online"lol" and looked at prices for bigger tanks, wow I think I'm fine right where I'm at. And I'm going to catch the Damsels by spearing them. Croc hunter style :4

yeah even with only 15 pounds of lr in my tank it was damn near impossible to catch mine with a net, and thats in a 30 gallon. find a trigger or lionfish for a couple days to eat them then give it back to the store / friend.
