I just checked and I have it right. Even the picture on the box shows the sponge closer to the tank and the filter farther away. You have it fucked up. :P

I'm sorry for bringing up a old thread.

But I went over to a friends house that has a SUMP for it Saltwater aquarium and it's got my mind rolling. I already converted a 10gal tank I have to be only able to hold 7gal before overflows into a filter element that pumps the water back up to the top tank. Top water is being fed via a hole thats drilled into a top mount flters side. Everything will be controlled by a PLC with OMRON software, should only take 4 rungs if that. I'm going to have my lighting on timer with the omron and two pumps will be on 100%duty cycle with only one top pump/filter and the bottom pump being controlled by I/O 's from float switches.

So what float switches do you guys use? NO or NC. I've seen a couple that are either or depending on location and rotation that you mount them.
Anyone provide me with a video with their sump working on float switches?

Tanks Alot get it tanks LOL

Holy ---- bumping this old ass thread. Damn i already maxed out the 30 gallon and moved on to a 55. On wednesday ill be going to pick up some more fish for my tank. And im ordering a quet one 2200 and a 20 long to make a sump/refuge in the next couple of days. Im tired of having cheato all over my main tank, so ill move it down to the refuge once i get it. I also have a 24" t5ho light and a 20" pc 50/50 daylight actinic with moon light led (thats badass, im getting more leds) so ill be starting on some corals soon.

I have a 55gal tank with about 160lbs of live rock with being 40 lbs from Bahamas, 4 types of anemnes, 4 damsels, 3 types of clowns not hurtin eachother at all terrorties alread called for, 6 emarald crabs, 3 been's under the sand for three days alond the glass but been moving, krill living in the banks of the live rock, total accounted for "39 snails, with 27 being new borns, 17 blue crabs, lawnmower bleeny, 4 peppermint shrimp, 2 cleaner shrimp, alot of grass looking coral"name cant remember" two feather dusters. Doing 3 20% water changes a month with the skimmer running full balst. I need my sump going quickly, just need the right floater switches. My reverse osmosis unit is maxed out with a 5 cycle phasing unit per month. Feeding the cleaner shrimp straight algae sheets and the crabs are eating 8 sheets per month cause my skimmer system is on over duty to keep the topof the tank clear.

After I get a sump going all the BOTTOM FEEDERS eaters going to the bottom and all the DAMSELS are going to the JOHN"FLUSHED" coral line algae is at a min, but had steady grownth for the mid to upper liner feeders, baby shrimp of 3 kinds have been born and the increase of calcium and iodine at a concentrated area that has no water movement has been the area they are most attracted too. I think that I can get a bigger tank with this being a breeder and a high flow water fall feeding the 200 gal half room and half beneith the floor stlye. My floor/house being on sand basically wont hold the weight I think without truss jacks. PLEASE IDEAS?
