well thas the problem, im not using baffles. just a 10 gallon tank with the pump in it. for the distance it has to pump up, this pump should be doing right at 400 gph and the syphone will overfloe the sump if im not careful.

This is what I made so far. Got a cheap pump/filter with the 10 gal tank. This pump/filter will be on the 50gal tank and where it draws it's water"onlt about 2 inches in the top tank" And just about a inch from the bottom"of filter/pump" I drilled a hole and put a fitting on. From the fitting a tube will run to a container full of bio-***** and filter media. The container has holes in the bottom of it that will drip into the rh side of 10gal tank. This is where I'm going to keep snails/crabs and medical tank area. On the LH side of the 10gal tank I got a huge pump that easily drain the LH bank of the 10gal tank easily. Both pumps will be hooked up to the PLC but I'm now just tring to figure out where I'm going to get the correct float switches

Ok well i got the sump all together and it works. I still had to adjust the flow cuz it was just way too fast to keep up, but overall im happy with it.

here is a full tank shot.

Full sump shot

Skimmer on the intake side of the sump

Quiet one 2200 and stealth 250w heater on the pump side of the sump.

Suction on the left, pump on the right. I still gotta come up with something so my fish don't get inside of my suction pipe, but still won't clog. Got any ideas?

Firefish Goby

Longhorn Cowfish and my Coral Beauty Angel makin nice like.

Coarl Banded Shrimp

Lawnmower Blenny chillin out

Backside of the skimmer, hasn't gotten anything good out of the tank yet, but its only been running a little over a day now. I have always heard it takes up to ten business days to get them working right, so ill just be patient.

i bought the skimmer at a local fish store and then looked online for reviews and found out its a shitty one. but i didnt pay for it, and i found a pretty good mod to do to it. you take a regular old air pump and put a valve on it and a airstone on it and stick it in the reaction chamber. it makes the skimmer about 3 times better than stock. and i didnt buy it but it cost about 65 bucks. pretty cheap. 4 dollars in parts to mod it and im set. and yeah, i love my tank.

Your tank looks great, salt is so much work but wow it looks so killer.

Years ago I had a homemade 100gal freshwater tank with a bunch of dempsey's, an oscar, a snakehead, and an arowana. Now I have a 33gal with about 20 african cichlid's, very easy to take care of and they breed like crazy.
